Need TurboTax Business for Mac!
on March 17, 2020

I struggle every year when I have to open a Windows laptop to deal with my s-corp taxes and TurboTax Business. It is all so very cumbersome. This year was a terrible struggle because the software kept telling me my 179 Depreciation carryover didn't match what was on my 2018 return even though it transferred the information directly from my 2018 Turbo Tax return. Made me late filing because it was late, I was tired from fighting the software, and it kept saying one of the forms I needed to file with my return had not been updated by the government, so everytime I tried to file, it threw errors at me. Finally this morning, I tried again and after digging through all the back worksheets found 2 numbers for the 179 carryover deduction that I could overwrite, deleted the address change form and will file that manually, and it finally let me efile my federal return. Then I had to keep back tracking to find where to print my Kentucky return to file. The whole software app is not very user friendly. I use other intuit apps like the regular personal Turbo Tax and QuickBooks Online and they seem light years ahead of TurboTax Business for Windows ONLY! Maybe I should just dump my s-corp status and change over to a sole proprietorship.

Why cant we efile extensions?

Turbo tax business lags a little behind the rest of the TT products. It wont transfer data from QB online and it wont efile business extensions. But it does a good job covering the many complexities of partnerships and S Corps.

One small problem
on March 17, 2020

Everything was easy except the code. I know it was my own fault, but it could have been a little more helpful if the code for my cd software was in my online account somewhere. I had the software loaded at home and work, but I guess it didn't get the keycode at home. The software was at work so I couldn't finish our taxes at home because of the keycode. If you could just make a spot on the online account to store the keycode so we can access it from other sites. You can use it on up to 5 computers, so this would simplfy it for those like us. Thank you for considering our thoughts.

TurboTax is very easy to use. I use it every year both for personal and for the trust I have to file.

Great exercise in Frustration

Using the Business edition for a Trust was awful. Even hard to buy the right edition took two hours. The program didn't properly match the workup with the main form! Stupid errors that often corrected by doing it over several times with no changes !

There was numerous errors in your software for depreciation of vehicles. If you tried to remove a vehicle that was disposed of in a current year. It would not be removed.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Quick Book Users: "Purchases" Not = CoGS
on March 17, 2020

This is my 3rd year to use TT and every year I say it will be my last but after I figure things out, I think it will be better next year. If you assume "purchases" is the same as COGS in QuickBooks...made by Intuit...you will not match. You would need to know how to offset the error in the IRS logic they let into their logic. If you talk to them and try to explain it to them, they say they aren't Accountants. I also tried for 2 year to roll QB over into TT and the present year get loaded not the previous year...didn't even waist the time to see if it would work this year.
The rating would be a 5 if it really integrated with QuickBooks but it seems to be a bit over their heads...almost!
