Turbo Tax is a solid product

I've used Turbo Tax for the past several years. Saves a lot of money over a tax preparer. The product is full of help to get you through anything tough. Love the Audit Defense option. You cant go wrong with Turbo Tax!

Almost paniced when my computer wouldn't boot!

This was almost a very bad week, as business taxes are due on Sunday. Early yesterday my computer wouldn't boot and I was dreading not being able to use TurboTax to file my taxes. I rely on TurboTax every year as it always asks all the right questions, files all the right forms, and keeps me in line with the latest tax laws. TurboTax rocks!

Bugs and high cost for value received

This was my first year filing for a single-owner LLC with election to be treated as an S Corp. I spent several hours trying to determine why the correct codes would not generate on the K-1 for the SBI deduction, only to discover that Turbotax was not ready to complete this function when I purchased it and I needed to wait for an update to be released. I have used Turbotax personal edition for several years and was expecting a similar experience. I was not expecting to pay so much more for a simple corporate return (don't even need a balance sheet) and only learned after purchasing the application, that I needed to make a second additional payment for the state return as well (despite the fact that there were no state taxes due and only very simple filings). I do all my computing on computers that run older versions of windows. There is no benefit for me to upgrade to Windows 10 and while I have some experience with it, I don't like that operating system. Requiring me to purchase a new operating system which I don't like simply to run Turbotax is yet another reason why I will be looking for an alternative to Turbotax next year.

Reduced stress at tax time

Everything for my S Corp filing went smoothly. Carrying forward prior year's info is such a time saver. Tax professionals have become a real headache; this is more manageable and you can do things on your schedule, not theirs. Only thing that seemed to be missing is no prompt for reimbursed expenses.

Form 8949 information needed is not available on the documents that print out. Page 2-adjustment to proceeds did not allow me to show the adjusted basis and the alpha character necessary to explain it.
