Depreciation Complaint

I was extremely disappointed with this year's changes to the depreciation section. Last year (2018) I was able to choose the depreciation method I wanted, which was straight-line. This year (2019), Turbo Tax chose the 200% Double Declining method and did not allow me to edit this setting. I was forced to open the form and override the entries to correctly report the depreciation for 2018 and 2019 already booked per the original depreciation schedule. I don't believe the IRS allows for changing depreciation methods from one year to the next on the same asset, so why has Turbo Tax made these software changes? I hope the software designers for Turbo Tax 2020 correct this setting and/or allow the user to edit those depreciation settings manually.

Better than using a CPA, for sure.

Last year was the first time I filed my business taxes myself. This year, it was even easier! I appreciate that Turbo Tax does the job for me at half what I was paying a CPA, and it feels good knowing that I know exactly what's going on with my return.

Easy To File

This is my second year using Turbo Tax for my filing. I found it incredibly straightforward. The only part that took a bit of figuring was were to get the state retrun since it needed to be printed and mailed, while the federal one was filed electronically.

No Signature Prompt for 1065 Fiiling

When I filed for my 1065, there was no section that prompted me to E-sign my 1065 for my partnership and it was then filed to the IRS.

I have been using TurboTax for 20+ years now going from a teenage lifeguard to now a business owner and independent contractor. I'm so glad a program is out there that can help me to complete my taxes myself.

Dropping support for Windows 7

They pester you with threats about TurboTax not working with Windows 7 next year, despite the fact that 1/3 of all desktop users are currently running Windows 7.
