TT business for trust returns needs improvement

In step by step for the federal 1041, implication was that changes in federal tax law eliminated virtually all previously allowed trust deductions e.g. for maintaining and administering the assets of the trust. After researching on the IRS site I found that wasn't the case.
The step by step for the CA return was even less user friendly.
These criticisms are in comparison to TT for individual returns which is both user friendly and give explanations in depth so that those of us who aren't familiar with tax law and regulations can get through it.
What's great about it: Same format as TT for individual returns
What's not so great: Step by step instructions leave much to be desired.

Not as good as Premier but more expensive

Probably better off going to a live preparer when dealing with trusts. this is hardly better than paper forms. on the other hand I find TT Premier to be very easy to use and would recommend it to anyone.
What's great about it: required for certain tax situations
What's not so great: basic functions like imports and return reviews are several versions behind the Premier version of your own product

Still unpredictable and unstable

I use this to prepare trust returns. It is an incredibly clunky program, compared to TT on the Mac for personal taxes. I run trusts based in another state from where I reside, and it is difficult to force TT to use the correct state. Its interface with the preview and printing program is clunky and unpredictable, and often if either fails to open the correct window, or persists in returning to something one has already completed. For the price, consistently disappointing.
What's not so great: difficult to navigate; old problems persist

Got the job done!

The program itself is fairly easy to use with lots of helpful hints but i paid full price for a program that didn't include my state.
What's great about it: fairly easy to use
What's not so great: Did not support my state!
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax business

Liked the product but the 1041 does not talk to the 1040 for estate returns.
Also I used to use a form the last couple years (not turbo tax) "Statement of Rent and Royalty income' that was missing.
Most importantly, it did not do the state returned but referred to State of Maine dept of revenue website to do manually. Lots of missing pieces !

State Taxes not Supported

I paid a lot of money for this software, only to find out the state is not supported as I selected "file state return"
What's great about it: Federal was easy
What's not so great: NC State (and others) not included

Very User Friendly

I switched to turbo tax after years of finding mistakes my cpa would make and the time it took for him to file my taxes. I am very pleased.
What's great about it: very detailed steps
What's not so great: none really
