First Time Using TurboTax Business

Turbo Tax Business was relatively easy to use to prepare my father's estate federal return. The only issue I had was with the Fiduciary 1041 Special Name Control. Lesson learned: Do not name the estate "The Estate of deceased's name" as Turbo Tax Business will assume "Estate" is the deceased individual's last name and set the Special Name Control to "ESTA." Instead, name the estate deceased's "First Name Last Name Estate". Turbo Tax Business will then correctly select the first four characters of the Last Name to set the Special Name Control.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Like Turbo Tax, not love it.

I have been using Turbo Tax Business and Deluxe for 18 years. I think after these number of years, not just by me, Turbo Tax would have all of the recommendations built into the latest products. For example, attaching statements to e filing. Not allowed and yet the latest help tells the user they are not going to do anything. Therefore, I will continue using Turbo Tax because it presently easier than switching. But good business practices say it should be "Simply the Best" and based upon my friends it is not because they use other products.

1099 B Proceeds from Broker

Turbo Tax Business.... I Had a Code X on my 1099 B, Turbo Tax did not have a a good explanation or guidance on how to insert this figure into the process.

Turbo tax for an Estate lacks quality assurance

Using TurboTax for Estate form 1041 was a very unsatisfactory endeavor. Other software may not be any better but I would definitely look at another package if I had to do the Estate over. I have used Turbotax for individual Form 1040 for years.
The TurboTax Business asks questions for a business or trust and tries to fit answers into an Estate process.

Really Easy and Simple

Using Turbotax for my business was really easy and simple. I have an S Corp and it walked me through the whole thing. I am very pleased, however if your business is tied to other businesses and you have a variety of deductions, an experienced licensed CPA is always the better choice.
