Still too primitive
on March 10, 2019

It's been years and the fidicuiary forms still lack basic features like download that regular TurboTax has. Generally they are just a bigger pain....
What's not so great: Lacks standard features of Turbotax Premier

First year with TTBusiness - works pretty well!
on March 10, 2019

So my pros and cons may sound like a contradiction. More like a paradox...
There are things I was unsure about, and if I just answered and filled things in, TT kept moving, guiding me pretty well based on what I had entered.
However, there were a few things where TT asked me a question, instead of guiding me, and because I'm not an attorney or CPA, I didn't know the answer. I had to do some research before I could make an intelligent decision to say "yes" or "no".
So it is a good package, but it also does not fully guide you if you don't have some knowledge already. Obviously, if you're filing "business" tax forms, you probably should have some background knowledge, or know how to find it and figure it out. And I think that is the expectation level in the software. It isn't "Let me teach you how to run your business AND do your taxes for you!"
Another thing. If you have two partners in a business, as we do, or partners where the divisions are in even numbers, you may have to use 51%/49% or other slightly-off percentages for the math to work right and avoid errors. For example, there was a $15 expense line, and we originally were set up as 50/50. That meant $7.50 and $7.50. But TT rounds the tax form entries up at 0.50, so they were posting as $8 and $8, totalling $16 on the form. The error check kept catching it and telling us that there was an error of $1 between the numbers on the entry and the final forms. We changed to 51/49 and that went away, because the rounding goes up at 50 and down at 49, so one went to $8 and other to $7, totaling the correct $15.
What's great about it: Walks you through things you may not understand
What's not so great: Doesn't provide detailed enough help if you don't understand something

Worked as expected

I've used TurboTax for many years, the last two using Business and deluxe because of a trust, the business works well but there should be a less expensive version for handling just a trust that may not have all the features of a business, but it needs a Schedule E.
What's great about it: It did my trust tax return well
What's not so great: Quite expensive for filing a simple trust

I have used this product for years and it keeps getting better. This time it took a mere three hours to file Federal and State taxes. The flow is logical and the explanations help with the more complicated tax issues pertaining to the unique situation at hand.
What's great about it: Ease of Navigation
What's not so great: None

Thanks Turbo Tax Business!

This is my first time starting a snall business. I was dreading doing the taxes, both federal and state. My business was a pretty simple one but I'm sure taxes weren't a very simple matter. I looked on line to see which software was recommended for small businesses, and one site indicated Turbo Tax was the only one recommended for my particular situation (LLC). It seemed like a significant amount of money to pay ($150), but it was far cheaper than hiring an accountant. I was surprised how easy Turbo Tax was easy to use. It also lead me to filing out the Texas franchise tax (for an additional cost). I wasn't expecting to fill that out at this time (it wasn't due until May 15th, another thing I was stressing over), but I'm glad it lead me to it. I'm definitely sold on using Turbo Tax business from now.
What's great about it: Made filing as easy as possible
What's not so great: Nothing comes to mind

First time filing a trust tax return
on March 10, 2019
Posted by: Michael90036
Generally I was satisfied using Turbo Tax Business for a Trust tax return: 1041, K-1 forms, state return. I was frustrated by the lack of information on what professional expenses were deductible, and particularly annoyed that when I tried to efile, it came back with a cryptic error about requiring an explanation about some line on a form. The Help screen was useless. Finally between Google, and poking around the Forms view I was able to figure out what the "Form 1116 (B) 3 explanation statement" was -- hopefully I got it right.
If I don't get any complaints from the IRS or the State in the next few months I'd say Turbo Tax was a success.
What's great about it: Got me through all the forms (as far as I know)
What's not so great: Told me there were errors but not how to fix them.
