Concept was great...

These were purchased for backpacking trip to Ecuador. Excellent light(s). Strong, Powerful.... lasts a long time.... Especially for the extremely long night hikes looking for reptiles, insects and amphibians. There are a lot of useless features on this light that could go. It is FAR too bulky.
As a woman with small hands I have to tell you it is NOT easy holding this monster for hours on end. That was a *major* design flaw. Large hands or especially tiny hands like mine there really is no curvature or designed way to hold this flashlight, especially with its odd shape.
I found myself and others in my hiking group were constantly changing hands to give their primary hand a rest.

Expectations were not met

the problems i experienced were: 1- unit turned on in carry bag 2 - charging was VERY slow (2 days in full sun barely charged it) 3 - unit barely charged my phone 20% after 2 full days in sun 4 - too many light features. all this needs is the one florescence I fully charged the unit via the grid before i left on a week long trip across the wilderness. I pack with horses and decided this was best safely packed in my personal saddle bag. The day before i left i noticed the light on in my bag. The problem with the buttons is that they get pressed on if you stuff the unit in your bag. BEWARE. the unit maybe on. i wrapped it in cardboard to stop this happening. My first day in, it rained all day until the next day. i used the unit for light for about an hour in my tent the first night. the next day was sunny/cloudy and i had the unit outside 'charging' - that night it was dead. no lights. 2 days of full sun later i managed to get my phone appox. 20% charged. i had it plugged in for hours. long story short. this unit did NOT work for me. SIX LIGHTS is a waste. the buttons on the back are fiddly, especially in the dark, additionally they can switch on in your pack. GoalZero is currently shipping me a new unit and i will return this one. i will put the new unit through the same conditions as the previous and report back. i am skeptical. i think this would be a better unit with only one light feature, a more powerful battery, and extra photo voltaics on the side. i have lived off-grid for 20 years and know a thing or two about solar. i am still seeking the ultimate backcountry charger/light.

I bought this for the solar option as I seem to always be out on the road when my phone decides to die so I thought this would be perfect!!! Way wrong. I have left it on my dashboard and on the window sill for three straight days and have ONE blue light of power captured. NOT WORTH IT! I guess you need to harness the sun's energy straight to your device but what makes this worse is I bought three of these. Do research before buying this I only asked questions with the salesperson but forgot for a moment they must work on commission and they pulled one over on me with the 'what it could do' well that would be great if it only did!

Bought two of these for my wife and I. Perhaps the most well thought out lamp that I have seen. I have charged it via the USB, sunlight and the crank. I am going to buy three more for my children. Great product! Worth the money!!

Given as an incentive by a solar power company. It works fine but it takes more then2 days to recharge with solar power alone. Ill keep it in the widow might be handy if there is a power outage

This is for the older Torch

I love this light! I have the older one, but really want this one. My only complaint with my light is that after being in some rain (although I did my best to keep it from getting soaked) one of the small LED lights on the flood-light keeps on spazzing out. Other than this, I am loving this light!

i had been waiting for some time until i had the money to buy the Torch 250. but when i opened it i found that it had a rubbery feel to it. i emailed Goal Zero and they asked their engineers who said "Torch 250 does contain some latex".
i know not many people have a very severe (possibly deadly) latex allergy. but my s.o. does. so i returned it.
the only thing that i didn't like about it was it has latex on it. so i took off 1 star because i had to return it. i have no other complaints about it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Well built with options

This product is very well built. With a variety of options for charging, USB, Solar Panel, and Hand Crank. The device itself has 3 modes and each of those modes has 2 sub-modes. The light is surprisingly bright and well crafted. Also, with the USB input you have the ability to charge a cell phone via solar power as well as the other charging options listed. If you're looking for a well built, multi-purpose light with plenty of options, look no further. Goal Zero is really making some very nice products.
