Works great until it doesn't. Auto-defrost does nothing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this upright freezer and received it just over one month ago. It had started occasionally making noise like the fan was hitting something but eventually stopped and seemed ok for about a week. Yesterday afternoon I went into the garage, the light was blinking and the alarm was sounding as the freezer was up to 25 degrees. Upon inspection, the back of the freezer (including the circulation fan) were completely frozen in ice and so the bottom was cold and the top was thawing. From reading the reviews this seems to be a very common problem recently, and when I purchased this unit I specifically looked for auto-defrosting so that I would not have to deal with issues like this. The fact that in only a month it has already failed tells me that the defrost on the unit is not functioning. Up to now the temperature was -10 and I was happy with the freezer, but if I have to move food to another freezer to manually defrost once every month this will have been a complete waste of money.

Just what we were looking for!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love that there is shelf, bottom basket and door storage. The door storage has it's own cooling unit so storage there is great. Runs quietly. I did add mini wire coated baskets to maximize my organization. Great product thus far. Have had for about a month.
