The size is good but when I close the bottom door the freezer door pops open creating freezer frosting over my food.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The refrigerator and freezer sections are connected by air channels to allow air to pass between them. Slamming or vigorously pushing a door shut forces air from one cavity into the other, often pushing the second door open. If the freezer is frosting, please refer to the troubleshooting steps at this link here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=19286

Install in my camper. So much better than a RV fridge! Lights are bright Nd the fridge is spacious.

Inexpensive, simple refrigerator

The worst time to look for a new refrigerator is when you absolutely positively need one because your current ride has melted all the ice cream and the bacon is on the verge of spoiling. It was the hottest week (so far) of the summer and my 30-year-old faithful GE fridge was suddenly gasping its last breaths, a victim of a suddenly failed circulation fan that caused the aged compressor to work too much overtime. I needed a fridge fast. I also needed a fridge with a space constraint, requiring it to fit in its allotted wall cabinet. This necessitated a refrigerator no larger than 16 cu ft, with 18's being just a bit too wide to fit. This is no small feat (see what I did there?) as there are slim pickings in this size class that are not too small. I was also looking for a refrigerator that simply freezes and refrigerates, not some over-complex beast that would spend half its time trying to date either the Roomba or the Alexa.
Enter this Hotpoint. It was in the Goldilocks zone of not too small and not too large. It is only a smidge shorter/smaller than the faithful GE it replaces. As a rush purchase, it was sight unseen, with no way to tell if the shelves were the right size or if I could put supersized bottles on the door shelves. Luckily the smaller height of the fridge, which manifested in a slightly smaller refrigerator cabinet, was still able to hold bottles of wine in the door, even if they now had to move to the top door shelf from the bottom. The door was also able to handle the water jug, which was now too tall to fit on the top shelf. There is a built-in shelf in the freezer where the old GE had none, so the portable shelf I had moved out. Even though I purposely purchased a fridge without an ice maker, there were no included ice cube trays, so now a small piece of the old GE lives on. The old GE had no air adjustments for the crisper, and now I have one.
Controls are a single simple knob with settings from 1 to 5. No, this doesn't go to 11, and 3 seems sufficient to keep both compartments at safe levels. The interior light is an LED, and I hope it lives a long time as it does not look like it is field-replaceable.
One thing I don't understand is why the hinge is on the right side. Directions are supplied to move the door hinges to the left, where it becomes easier for a right-handed person to load and unload the fridge.
As delivered the doors to both compartments were properly aligned. It took a few hours to cool down to operating temperature. It is quiet when running, with no annoying hums or buzzes. Of course, my comparison is the old GE that was starting to run longer and longer and getting louder and louder. I'm not going to claim this unit is whiper-quiet, but it is quiet enough.
So far I'm happy, and hopefully this continues to provide good service for years to come.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good size, fits the tight space available. Hate that there is no outside door handle.
