Noisier than competition

I bought this as an exact replacement of the dead one just for convenience. But it is still too noisy.

A Real Workhorse

Sooo quiet!

I bought this a little over two months ago and never had a chance to install it. I finally did install it and man, I am so happy! My old one was so loud that it shook the whole house. This one is so quiet I could barely even tell it was on when I flipped the switch. This is by far one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

Good design but difficult to implement

Thoroughly researched alternatives. Selected this item because it would be easy to install and quiet. Sink flange assembly was so tight that I had to heat the support ring and crank on it with a oil filter wrench to get the parts removed and installed according to directions. Appliance is quite a bit louder than our old one.

Model GFC720V Garbage Disposer

I purchased this disposer almost 2 years ago but didn't install it until about 10 months ago. This was one of the hardest to install by myself laying on my back. The mounting system requires the disposer to be held in place while the locking collar is twisted was very difficult. I tried numerous times by myself and then I called my son (who is 40 years old) but could not get the locking collar started. I finally put some blocks under the disposer to help hold it in place while turning the locking collar. This unit only lasted about 10 months before my wife said there was water under the sink. After inspecting, the disposer was leaking water internally and then down thru the disposer and onto the sink cabinet. I then purchased another disposer from my local hardware store and it was easy to install and is much quieter. One last item is the plastic stopper that allows you to fill the sink with water for doing dishes is a different size from the other brands. Do you self a favor and install another brand.

I hope it lasts longer than previous disposal

This unit replaces the same model which failed in under 5 years. Happily, it was supplied under warranty (plus installation cost). Despite being the same model, it is far quieter than its predecessor and I'm pleased with it. Hopefully, it will last for many years. I think GE should improve the somewhat difficult mounting and provide a better way to unlock a stuck unit such as a wrench as other manufacturers- not inserting a broom stick handle.
