a little disappointed

i didn't give it a 5 star rating because of 2 reasons. it's not as quiet as I thought it would be. Also, it doesn't seem as powerful as the previous disposal I had which was only 1/2 HP and this one is 3/4 HP.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Disposal is very quiet for a 3/4hp motor. The instructions recommend not using plumbers putty. This is probably accurate if you have a flush mount sink. Our sink has a flange ring. Needless to say I had to use plumbers putty to get a seal that didn't leak. Make sure that you connect the discharge pipe before you mount the Disposal. I dropped a screw into the plastic housing and had to remove it and get the gasket set screw out. The Disposal also does not come with a strain relief grommet for the power cord. It an additional trip to the hardware store was required for this additional part. It would have been nice if a rubber grommet was provided for the mounting of the power cord.

Power full yet quiet!

My last GE garbage disposal did good work for me. She lasted well over 30 years! So of course I had to have another General Electric! Our local stores did not have BE on floor display.So I went online.I love my disposal..this appliance is powerfull.,and it is so .edu quieter!!!

Stick with GE. My last disposal was a general electric three quarter up as well. It served me well for over 35 years! This new one is extremely quiet and I'm loving it!

Silent, but deadly...

I've only used this unit for a few days, but I'm impressed. Considering starting my own "Will it Blend" series with this sucker. Works like a champ. My lack of plumbing experience was not enough to stop my awesome adventure. It even boosted my testosterone and filled in my receding hairline.
