Storage shortage at premium price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Looks good, works well. Purchased counter depth since regular sized fridges stick out too much in the house we had just built. But counter depth results in storage shortage at a premium price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This refrigerator has a significant design flaw. This refrigerator builds up ice on the evaporator (cooling manifold) inside the refrigerator section. I received this information from my repair person. Typically, there is a heater that is attached to evaporator which supposed to come one periodically and melt the accumulated ice. This refrigerator has 2 evaporators – one in the freezer section and one in the refrigerator section. The freezer defroster heater is working fine. From what I was told KitchenAid cut cost and eliminated the defroster heater on the refrigerator section. Ice builds up every week, blocks air circulation, and food on the top shelf isn't kept cool enough and the vegetable drawer freezes. The food above and in the drawer goes bad and I throw it out. My repairman re-programmed the control board and that did not solve the problem. I am now putting a hair dryer on the ice every two weeks, which is not reasonable. The issue started in year 4 of owning the product, I paid a lot of money for this refrigerator, paid for two repair visits, and the issue persists. I do not recommend this product and have begun to look for a replacement...not whirlpool and not Kitchen Aid. Very disappointed, to say the least. Kitchen Aid should own up to this issue and provide a replacement unit that was properly designed. I thought that I was buying a reliable brand that would last...not the case. My previous GE refrigerator lasted for 23 years!!!

Very disappointed

Purchased this refrigerator on April 7, 2025 to replace a 10 year old GE appliance. On may 1 it was found that freezer stopped working. The repair person came out on may 5 and stated "this is the worse possible case scenario and issue a unit can have." The compressor is bad and there is a leak. This was the second repair visit and third issue in less than 30 days. The other two issues included a freezer light switch not working properly and new door needed. First repair visit was on April 23. Now trying to work with kitchen aid on an exchange as there have been 3 issue including major catastrophic failure in less than 30 days of ownership. Very disappointed as all of my other appliances are Maytag and Whirlpool with no issues.

water leaks from dispenser

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Kitchen was finished in October so the fridge has been in service for 7 months.
The good - ice maker works well, unit stays cold
The bad - water dispenser - the water is not cold and it drips and overflows the catch bin.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this new refrigerator for 2 months. Basically a fine piece of equipment. BUT, the water from the dispenser has a "plastic taste." I followed directions and ran 3 gallons through the filter/water system. I would collect and pitch three glasses of water and the 4th has less of a plastic taste and somewhat tolerable. I replaced the filter after a month and a half, ran 3 gallons through it per the instructions, but the plastic taste remains. The foul taste is strong at the first time I collect water in the morning. Plastic taste decreases after 3/4 glasses full but it remains. The ice also has that plastic taste. Now I have to resort to unfiltered tap water.

Servicable fridge

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The fridge is good overall. We replaced a 20 year old kitchenaid. This new one has noticeably cheaper quality drawers. They are thinner plastic and don’t slide well. I’m sure one will break. When ice dispenses chips of ice fly everywhere even with the cup as far up as possible. The no fingerprint finish is nice.
