New model not as good as my old same model.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I owned the same model of this Kitchen Aide refrigerator for nearly 15 years until it completely died. I was extremely pleased with everything about my previous refrigerator but am not pleased with the new edition of the same model. Two specific reasons I am not so pleased are: the plastic drawers in the refrigerator section are very cheaply made of thinner plastic and the drawers do not slide smoothly in the moulded track, and the ice maker makes ice much slower than the old refrigerator. There are several improvements that are good such as the interior lighting in the refrigerator section and the placement of the water filter inside the refrigerator instead of under the bottom of the refrigerator base. The overall improvements do not overcome the problems.
I would recommend this to a friend!

An improvement in many ways....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was purchased to replace an ancient SubZero refrigerator/freezer, which though not deep, had ample room for the contents. Kitchen Aid holds less food in the refrigerator side, and not enough drawers for veggies and fruit. I need to work on how to stock it differently! Also, there is not as much room for tall bottles at a lower level as I would like. It runs quietly and I also like the fact that icemaker and water and ice access are on the exterior of the freezer. One doesn't need to open the freezer door often that way. I expect that the cost of running the Kitchen Aid will be far lower than what is needed to run the SubZero.

Caveat emptor

Had to replace motherboard at 3 years. A very expensive repair. Icing of the ice compartment also an issue, but I could live with that. Motherboard problem has me skeptical about the quality of Kitchenaid generally.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice refrigerator. Well lit, plenty of room for my small household. My only complaint is that I had to purchase extra bins/frames. I shouldn't have had to do that on a BRAND NEW refrigerator.

I wanted to like this refrigerator. Not loving the craftsmanship. The drawers I find to be cheap and do not roll well, probably because it’s plastic sliding on top of plastic with no sort of wheel to assist smoothly. The shelf spacing is also stupid. Seems to To me, whoever is designing refrigerators these days has never actually used one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor quality drawers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Loved the Freezer side. Hated the refrigerator side. Cheep plastic drawers and drawer slides. Not up to expectations for a Kitchenaid product. Returned the unit and got another one.

Best counter depth we could find.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Counter depth side-by-side refrigerators don't have many choices. This seemed best for the price. For the freezer section rearranged the bins and added (purchased) another shelf or optimum storage. Can't say the same for the refrigerator side. Not many options for placement and parts are pricey. Bins are a bit flimsy, with the middle bin the worst. Upper and lower bins slide on the tracks easily, whereas the middle bin when partially pulled out dips and when pushing the bin back in it wobbles and takes effort to make sure it is "aligned". Lighting is excellent. Inserts in door "bins" is an excellent feature. Door panel instructions were poor. The insert for the water/ice dispenser tray is flimsy and if not properly placed can cause glasses to tilt. There are no instructions for the removal/cleaning of the drip tray.
