Exceeds Expectations

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased a month ago. This refrigerator exceeds my expectations. It is quite. A great fit for the space. And more room in frig and freezer than ever thought. Great internal lighting and shelving. Water and ice dispenser work well, but could be a bit smoother to activate when using a glass or water bottle for refill. But, still nice feature.
Overall, I’m very very pleased. This Kitchen Aid performance exceeds previous high-priced built-ins I’ve had in other homes. Good design Kitchen Aid!

Well lit interior

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 15 year old counter depth Kitchen Aid refrigerator was nicer than this new model. It had a much bigger ice container in the freezer. It had a “party” feature that would make ice faster.
The drawers had metal glides and opened so smoothly. The shelves also had glides. The shelves in this new model are stationary. The shelves are also smaller because there is a long rectangular light panel in the back that reduces the depth of the shelves. The lazy Susan and the soda holder that I bought for the old fridge don’t fit on the new shelves. The drawers glides are plastic and don’t open nearly as smoothly. The freezer is 2 cu feet smaller.
So, I am disappointed in the new model because the old model was so much nicer. The only thing better about this new model are the finger print resistant doors. The door on my old fridge stopped closing correctly (after 15 years so it was very well made). If I could have just replaced the doors, I would have happily kept my old fridge.
Even with all of the features the new model lacks, I investigated the counter depth refrigerators offered by all the other brands and none of them were any better. Even though Kitchen Aid is a substantially more expensive brand, I decided to stick with Kitchen Aid because I believe, based on the longevity of my last fridge, that this one will last longer too. I also believe the Kitchen Aid brand name is desirable and will help maintain the re-sale value of my home.

Dangerously Sharp Drawer Edges

Just got this yesterday and while putting food into the drawer for the 1st time, my fingers grazed the top of the drawer. The razor sharp edge sliced off a good chuck of skin from my finger. My skin was literally left in the drawer. I would like someone to please contact me asap about how to file or cover these edges. We have children and I've asked them not to use the drawers until we can find a solution.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Fridge....But....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the refrigerator at our new home, and it is working great. There are 2 issues I would like to address. First, there are only 4 door shelves, and there is space for an additional shelf to take full advantage of the space in this counter depth applicance. Second, I found that the crisper/meat drawers have an edge that is extremely sharp. While putting cheese in the drawer, I cut myself 2 times. I will be addressing this with Whirlpool (parent company) to get replacements to prevent any additional injuries. Be careful with reaching into these drawers. These issues ae reflected in not giving a 5 star rating.

Love My KitchenAid Frig

I have enjoyed the space it offers and love the rack that can be used for wine, water, or soda. Draws in the freezer are a good addition for small items. The ice and water dispenser are innovative and beyond what was expected.

LOVE THE SEPARATE ICE AND WATER BUTTONS, WHICH CAN BE USED AT SAME TIME. TOOK OUT WINE BOTTLE HOLDER TO MAKE ROOM FOR TALL FOODS. BOUGHT EXTRA SIDE DOOR SMALL STORAGE HOLDER AND BASKET. THAT WAS ALL IT WAS MISSING FOR LOTS YOGURTS, LOVE ALL THE SPACE. WE DID HAVE TO RAISE CABINET UP ONE INCH. SPENDY. BUT LOOKS AND WORKS GREAT
