This is our 2nd iteration of GE dishwasher from builder in a new home. We do like this one better than the first, the drying is AMAZING but the darn touch buttons on the front are going to cause me to lose my mind. I can't tell you how many times we have started the dishwasher or changed every setting by just standing at the counter. I have looked to see if there is some sort of a guard or cover for the panel but all I can find is replacement panels. We have gotten better but my elderly dad doesn't even hear that he's hit any of the buttons and I'm fortunate to be near enough to hear it turn on that I can cancel it semi quickly (canceling doesn't seem to be as easy as the previous model. I still haven't figured out the exact methodology as pressing and holding start for 3 seconds just restarts the machine when I let go. So I end up just leaving the darn thing open until it stops chirping at me).
I recommend for the drying but I do not recommend based on the control panel. Take your pick.

We bought this and had it installed in December. It wouldn't drain immediately, and eventually the installer realized the valve was defective to allow it to drain. It took a month to get the parts in, and they fixed it a week ago. We've tried to run it three times since then, and each time, it runs for a few minutes then turns itself off mid-cycle. We have to then come back and go through the whole thing again.
We will, again, have to contact the company we bought it from and try and get them to fix it which I'm sure will take another month, but at this point, I don't even want it anymore. It has been nothing but a hassle and constantly having people in our house to try and figure out what's going on during a pandemic.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please keep in mind it is normal for many dishwashers to start and stop several times during each drain. This helps pump out food soils more effectively. If your dishwasher pauses briefly or seems to start and stop during the draining period, this is normal operation.
