Cleans beautifully

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I no longer have to pre-rinse dishes. Love the accessory for stemmed glassware. I have to use a portable and this is so very easy to move for a 72 yr. old woman. My family loves the fact that it is convertible.

I bought this dishwasher over a year ago and I am surprised the machine is as quite now as it was a year ago. I did not expect that paying little bit extra has done a lot for the noise level.

Heating element stopped working after 14 months

We run the dishwasher once, maybe twice a week at the most. After owning a GE portable for 10 years without a single problem, naturally we decided to go with another GE portable when the racks on our old portable become worn out and rusty after ten years of use. So rather then buy new racks at substantial cost and then possibly have the old washer stop working, we decided to go with a brand new washer.
We picked this model because it had more features, much better dish racks, and was supposed to be quieter then our old one. When we got this washer home it didn't make as much noise as our old one. But after a year of minimal use it's just as noisy as our old model.
It's been 14 months since our purchase and the dryer element has stopped working two months after the warranty expired. This is very disappointing considering how little this machine has been used.
Overall, we're very disappointed in the wash job it does, the time it takes to complete a load, and it's noise level. We could not recommend this washer simply because it already needs repaired when our older, less expensive GE portable lasted well over 10 years without a single problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great detachable dishwasher

We've had this unit for about 8-9 years now and still working great. We probably rinse more out if habit than necessity, but as long as the dishes aren't stacked too closely then they will get clean. Pretty quiet, we usually run it overnight, but even during the day we can be 10 feet away and have a conversation ok, and still ready enough to talk over it a little louder right next to it. The side veneer gets pulled back occasionally, a little glue and normal tape and it's fine for a long time. Only thing I would mention is the paint on the wall where we store it when not in use got rubbed off from the power cable and hose over the years - either plan on painting every few years or find a 4 inch tall x 8 to 12 inches wide plastic barrier that you could attach with command strips. The cats love sitting in it when it's warm lol. Easy to clean, makes a nice extra counter space when entertaining for putting plates and plastic cups on, the top vaneer had held up great over time. Make sure to not use with a sink sprayer, just detach it and get a plug for the hole. It's nice to have the extra kitchen storage in our space. Just visiting to check the related back presser for an RO system and thought to leave a review from a long term user.
