Freestanding Electric Range

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: American made. It is a very nice looking range and fits where the old range was. Cons: As with every freestanding range I've ever had, the drawer on the bottom is so chintsy. When pulled out you have to maneuver it just right to get it back in right. The cook top is black. My old range had a grey/blue/black pebbling which didn't show smudges and smears and eventually scratches. This takes much more care to wipe down and clean.

Top is black glass so it shows every speck; burners are versatile; bottom drawer is very cheap and doesn't have a handle. Aluminum is thin and seems like it could cut your hand. Steam clean sounds great but have not tried that yet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The range looks nice and has a very spacious oven. The top burners are nice but already discoloring after a month. My biggest gripe about this unit is the ridiculous amount of time it takes to preheat. I waited almost 10 minutes to get to 400. Almost half as slow as my previous 15 year old whirlpool range. Lower storage rack is thin and flimsy. Oven racks are thin as well. The controls are very basic but easy to operate. Not overly complicated. I would have went with another brand but whirlpool is local and I wanted to support them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the looks of the range; however, the bottom drawer is so flimsy and not easy to open without getting smudges all over it. Also, the oven works fine and bakes, broils, etc. well, but there is an annoying squeaking sound that occurs almost everytime I use it. I read about this from some other reviews and was hoping mine wouldn't make the noise, but it does. This is the first time I've had a black cooktop, too, and it never looks clean. I've tried different products, but it always looks smudgy. This range heats and bakes fine and the price was within my budget, but I wish I had upgraded to a better model that didn't have all the quirks mine does.

Terrible electric range WFE510

Owned many Whirlpool applilances - mostly Gold - washers, dryers, ranges (Ah, my Accubake!) over the years. This junk is nothing like in any little way those products of old. The new owners trashed Maytag as well. Of course, they don't care - too much money to be made on all those ill-informed buyers and consumers.

Crowded cooktop, annoying controls--not impressed

This range is an okay performer, but it has some serious cons. We've had ours a little over 4 years and are eager to replace it in our upcoming kitchen remodel.
Pros: -It's pretty easy to keep the top clean; -Self cleaning mode for oven works well; -The two big burners put out plenty of heat and seem to heat up pretty quickly; -The oven is a consistent performer.
Cons: -The layout of the burners makes this essentially a two-burner cooktop. When I use the two large burners in front at the same time with meal-sized pans, the back burners are basically unusable. For example, if I have stock pot on one front burner and a 12" skillet on the other, the two back burners are impossible to use with anything other than a tiny pot (1-quart). This is by far my biggest gripe with the stove. -The two small burners on the back don't put out enough heat, don't seem to heat up as quickly, and are little too small to be useful very often. -The push button controls for the oven and the timer are annoying to the point of cursing frustration. They are difficult to manipulate with clean, dry hands and require way too many pushes to adjust. It's like an 1980's alarm clock. Don't even get me started on the timer controls. -The single read-out for the timer/oven makes it hard to tell what's going on when the timer and the oven are both running. I've accidentally turned off the oven several times thinking I was turning off the timer. -The blue-light on the led clock is cool but unreadable unless you're standing right on top of it. Even in the dark, your eyes simply will not resolve that blue light into numbers. Almost as a party game, I have asked many guests to try to read the numbers from 10-15 feet away. Most fail.
If you're only looking for light-duty cooking, this unit might be fine. If you're like me and you really enjoy preparing more complicated dishes or meals that require a lot of cooktop activity, I highly recommend that you look elsewhere or at least that you bring you pots and pans to the store and experiment with the cooktop before you commit.
At a little over four years old, the controls of one of our burners is beginning to act up. Sometimes, the burner simply ignores the nob when you turn it up or down. It started about a month ago and happens only intermittently, but as time goes by, it's happening more and more. If it keeps deteriorating, this will be a 3-burner range in another few weeks. I know they don't make appliances like they used to, but I'm not impressed
