I had a Magic Chef Glass top for 30 years and had to replace it because the oven was no longer reliably working. This whirlpool does not compare quality wise. The glass cooking area is harder to keep clean than it should be and the bottom drawer is flimsy. The first stove that was delivered was all banged up. It was dented in the back and on top by the control panel. The box looked fine, so I don't know when the damage occored . Lowes was great about swapping it out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Aluminum foil stops oven squeaking sounds!

Overall, this is a very nice range. I replaced my 2005 Whirlpool model with this comparable model, but wished I had kept my old range which was built better.
Like other reviewers, my new oven would also make rather loud and frequent squeaking sounds during preheating and baking, but I alleviated this issue by simply placing a couple of sheets of Reynolds heavy duty aluminum foil under the heating element at the inside bottom of the oven. It seems the expansion and contraction of the heating element while preheating and baking causes the aluminum bracket that props up the heating element to move ever so slightly, creating the metal-on-metal rubbing / squeaking sound on the bottom metal surface inside the oven. Lining the bottom of the oven helps to catch drips, and is easily replaced. Just lift up the heating element a little (when cooled), and slide a long sheet (or two) of aluminum foil underneath it. Just make sure the aluminum foil is completely under the bracket, where the squeaking occurs.
I hope this simple tip helps other people to enjoy their new Whirlpool range more fully! I am proud to buy American-made Whirlpool appliances.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this about a month ago and am satisfied with it for the most part. I find the cook top is hard to keep clean and reclean after usage. I also find the oven racks are on the cheap side.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We haven't had this range two months and the range top hot and range top on lights will not go off. I called whirlpool to report the issue. They are sending someone to fix it which is expected but I'm being told that I may have to pay a service fee to have my brand new range fixed. Hmmm?

Great looks, works well so far

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this for my wife about 2 weeks ago. So far she loves it. Some of negative reviews say the oven pops when heating up but we haven’t had that issue yet. One down fall I noticed was in the quality control. When I first open it I noticed a bit of the adhesive that holds the glass top down was strung over the top of the glass across one of the burners. A little bit of elbow grease and it came off. Also noticed the finish on the stainless behind one of the burner knobs was peeling. Not a huge deal since it won’t be seen but I imagine over time, with cleaning it will chip away more. Overall so far so good. I’ll give it 4 stars.
