Fun to put together!

This build was challenging, but I learned from previous builds to take my time. Even so, I had problems keeping the porch roof on house #1 attached properly.
(The middle porch column has to be centered on the seam of the two roof panels above.) The upside-down roof was solid as could be, until I attached the trees. That roof had to be deconstructed and reconstructed once more. The two roofs were the only areas I had trouble with.
My Upside-Down is completed and on display, and very solid (but not for the grandkids to play with!).
I would recommend this to a friend!

Better sets- do not waste your money-
on December 20, 2020

This one has me questioning if I really want to spend any more frigging money on legos. Is it really worth it? After this build I say: no.
First of all, the trees are tedious and annoying to build, not too bad, but after an entire level of nothing but blue and grey legos- being frustrated by double ended trees sucked. THEN! Get all the way done and get to the part where you connect them and realize the trees won’t pop into place unless I basically punch the side of the lego set- which I do. One side, done. Ok. Second side- done- oh wait- part of the structure wall fell out- let me put that back together- then it was like an oil leak in the car- one weak spot falling after another after another. I’m sure I could go back and intricately spend a few more hours getting this all right again, but I had already lost interest in it for like a month. I really don’t think I’m going to garner any further interest to finish this. Lego- this set is a fail. You needed to have a way to pop the blue and grey joints on and together before it is being stood up. If the ball joints had gone before the trees in assembly, I do not think it would have popped apart in so many places.
The nostalgia was fun and I had fun watching stranger things while I did this. But unfortunately my enjoyment of the stranger things storyline does not translate to a good review of this product.

Falling apart
on November 9, 2019
Posted by: Frankee
I followed the directions perfectly. When it got time to put it upside down all of the pieces fell including the entire upside down. When I went to put it back together the entire thing fell again. This set was poorly made. It was extremely frustrating. I have created many other sets but this one sucked!

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced some frustration with your set.
If something ever seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be, which can cause instability. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together.
If you'd like a hand troubleshooting the build, or if you find that any pieces aren't holding together as they should, feel free to give us a shout at LEGO.com/Service.

falls apart easily

I was looking forward to this set but putting the trees on made the whole thing come apart in pieces. At this moment In time i've given up finishing it. the bottoms pieces kept falling off, the houses constantly came off the foundation, i'm now left with a jumbled mess. missing pieces here and there
I might restart it but i'm sure there's many pieces missing after the thing exploded to a million pieces
I would recommend this to a friend!

Oh no! I can imagine how frustrating it is to have your set come apart, and I'm sorry that you've had a disappointing experience.
Because of The Upside Down's unique shape, it's really important for the build that everything be in exactly the right spot, and that every piece is pressed tightly together. Something even a little out of place could throw things off. When a set does come apart, it's a good idea to check your build - it's usually a piece earlier on that causes trouble down the line.

Not worth it

I have been building Lego for 40+ years and this has got to be one of the worst designed sets in history.
I see they come on here stating that if it is built correctly it should be stable, but as soon as I turned it over, it fell apart. It is not stable and too heavy in the back to support itself, plus the tree branches fall off even if you look at them. It fell apart to the point I will need to take it apart to restart, if I even have the desire.
Excellent idea, but terrible execution. I would not recommend this to anyone.

HORRIBLE SET

This is the worst set I've ever "attempted" to build! The roof is total garbage and has fallen apart numerous times. If I could get a refund I would. Do not buy this set!!!!

Not without glue....

The absolute worst Lego set ever!!! I've been assembling Lego sets for 40 years, and have never come across anything so poorly designed. As soon as you turn the model over, everything drops apart. First the roof, then the walls, until only the furniture is remaining. The set would work if you didn't turn it over, but there is way too much weight hanging in mid-air for it to stay together. I spent a leisurely 2 weeks carefully making sure all parts fit together tight and proper. As soon as I started placing the side stands on the houses, all things broke loose. Never had any thing like this happen to the most complex sets.

Oh no! That definitely shouldn't happen. Rebuilding should do the trick, though. And you can always get in touch with our brick experts at LEGO.build/Service. They'd be happy to help troubleshoot to make sure everything's in tip-top shape to turn the set topsy-turvy.
