One of my favorites.

My wife wanted to know what I wanted for my birthday. I asked for a Lego set and she got me this, which automatically makes it one of my favorites since it's from her. But the build alone was wonderful. I thought it could possibly get a little tedious almost doing the same build twice, but the differences made it all so much fun. The details are great, unique building techniques, the inside is gorgeous but it's really the outside exterior that gets most of my attention. I'm a big modular building fan so when they look good like that from the outside AND the in, oh mama, I'm just so happy with this set. It looks like art. Also, take your time building it. I somehow missed a step or two or put things in the wrong place towards the end but I caught my mistake before trying to stand it up. Do it right and it will be sturdy as can be. I had it atop my desk, which I bump into often, and it never even wobbled. Very impressive architecture! The Barb posters are a hilarious, dark touch. And the Dustin minifigure is the cutest one EVER. I honestly can't think of anything to nitpick about with this build. Don't be a mouthbreather, get it!

WHY WOULD YOU KEEP THIS CURIOSITY DOOR LOCKED?!

Firstly let me just say I wasn’t sure where the missing posters for Barb were going to go but they found their place ... I hope we find her .. she’s been gone a while now. With that said there is just NO reason you wouldn’t want to plant this little slice of Hawkins Indiana on your coffee table. As you open the first book, and as you’re looking through the character bios , and you start to build Hopper’s truck ... all is right in the world. You KNOW for facts you could not have made a better decision. Well done you. There are SO many unique little touches to this set that fans of the show will LOVE and the structure of the build is PHENOMENAL. I love the contrast between our world and the upside down. You may notice the super specific build time, and should understand it is the complete season one of stranger things.. plus 2 episodes. I could stay here all night writing about this set but I have to go.. Will hasn’t come home yet and his bike is sitting outside .. he never goes anyplace without it ... I’d better call Hop. In closing , this set RULES. Friends. Don’t. Lie.

Stranger about the bad reviews on this Things
on May 5, 2021

I was hesitant about purchasing this set, some reviews states that it would fall apart. It is well designed and holds together very well. I was able to flip it and move it fine without all the parts holding it together.
I am disappointed that 2 pieces were missing: a bucket from bag 4 and a 2x4 blue plate from bag 7. Bag 4 had a tan peg, which wasn't in the instructions yet. Very odd. In the process of requesting pieces.

We're sorry you had to pause your build but we're glad you got in touch to request new ones so you can get back to building.
It’s unusual for a LEGO® set to be missing pieces (usually they're found stuck in the packaging or hiding on the floor), but in the rare case something is missing, we're always here to help at LEGO.build/Service-BV.

Just Wow!!!

It’s a beautiful piece after it’s built and amazing to display. I had a small issue with the porch stand not sticking but it’s barely noticeable overall I would recommend any stranger things fans to get this set.

Super fun build. Built the entire set while rewatching all the Stranger Things episodes. Glad I got the set before it retired.

[Flips game board over] “Upside Down”
on July 20, 2019

I couldn’t be more impressed with this set. I’ve built many difficult sets in my years of building, but The Upside Down really challenged me in a way no other set has. The minifigures, first off, are amazingly accurate to the Netflix show, especially the four boys. I couldn’t wait to get to Dustin, my favorite character in the show. The build was pretty straightforward, up until you put the two halves together, then some thinking is involved. I’d recommend having two people, one to hold the halves together while the other pushes the trees in. The detail inside and out is just incredible, and upon finishing the real world Byers’ house I thought it could easily have been a set on its own. Both sides are packed with items from the show like the bear trap, the hole in the wall, and Will’s drawings on his wall. My only complaint is something no one else has said: when you flip the model over, the house in the Upside Down is reversed of the real world one. This is not the case in the show. Maybe I’m just picky, this would be an easy modification if I needed to. The whole model is stable on a flat surface although I am cautious when flipping it over to show the family. The best thing to do is hold the model by both of the roofs and tilt it over by my experience. Oh, and Hopper’s K5 Blazer is just perfect and fits onto a rock so when you flip it stays on. And lastly, the whole build is filled with great stickers that make the whole set come to life with details like the D&D rulebook and the alphabet wall, plus Upside Down versions of them. Overall, a great set for and Stranger Things fan or LEGO fan looking for a new challenge. If you’ve been thinking about it, just get it and you won’t be disappointed. Good luck and keep building!

Even if difficulties, still worth it.

I feel that a lot of it is quite difficult to build, this is certainly too difficult for most children to try to build. It has a long of pieces that need to be put in place and eventually locked down, and if you aren't careful you will knock it loose and need to put it back. The roof I have see a lot of people have issues with, It needs to be aligned properly and that is hard to do. As well as the slant on the roof, it is VERY difficult to get those put on just right, it will most always hang off just a tiny bit... And a lot of the studs just seem to be hard to get pieces onto, some of the plate pieces especially, like they don't want to go onto other studs...
Ignoring difficulties building, The overall look of the set is amazing, it captures both the upside down and the real world great.... It is amazing the amount of detail they put into adding so many little easter eggs into the build, the bear trap, Will the Wise's hat, the jaws poster, the drawings, ect... Even on the sticker sheets, the Upside Down sticker sheet has all the stickers put on their upside down to the numbers, which is a very nice touch...
My only real gripes are with the minifigures. Sure, I get it is easier to put the blonde wig on Eleven than to try and create a new mold that looks like a shaved head, but they could have tried... Also Hopper could have greatly been improved by creating a doubled molded hat/hair combo, his hair is pretty nice, but in this set he just has a hat and that doesn't fully capture the hopper look.
