[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted this set so bad, so since I was turning 40 this year I put it on my wish list and I got it! I enjoyed every minute of this spectacular build.

Fantastic set. Need to pay attention to instructions and wouldn’t recommend for kids. Otherwise nicely done piece.

Love the details

As a huge Stranger Things fan, I loved building this set. It was probably the most difficult one I’ve made to date but the thought and detail that went into creating it was so worth the effort. I hope they make another one with Jonathan, Steve and Nancy.

Welcome back - I missed you!

While recovering from ankle surgery, my wife purchased this set to keep me occupied while I was off my feet. Since this was my first build since helping our son with his lego sets many many years ago, I wasn’t sure of what to expect, but I was blown away by the detail and thought that went into the set’s creation. Instructions were very detailed and easy to follow provided you took your time. I still had to disassemble the build a few times to fix mistakes, but in the end, it all came together and I had no issues with the porch or roof tiles as some builders had reported. It has held up well two years after building, and has been flipped or rotated numerous times without pieces coming off, or the house on the bottom coming loose.
Overall, as a display piece the build is incredible. The mini figures are spot on, the little details like the porch swing, bear trap, and missing poster really pay homage to the show. Good value for the money, and challenging without being impossible. Highly recommended!!

Fun from beginning to end

This set is beautiful. I keep it displayed year round and love looking at it. The details and colors are stunning. When you put the two halves together, however, you will need an extra set of hands.

Fun...but will likely tear apart and build again

Even if you are a LEGO veteran, this is an interesting build. First, the overall concept is terrific, and a real conversation starter (regardless of whether or not you're familiar with "ST"). The level of detail is also great, especially if you are a big fan of the show (note: mini figures with this set are outstanding). All of that said, how this set comes together is, again....interesting. Starting out building the up/down side of the cabin is fun, but when it comes time to connect the two together, you really need to pay attention when aligning the bases of the up/down side, insuring one fits precisely on top of the other: the set will go together if the base of either side is slightly skewed to the left or right (see pictures below); however, this is clearly a problem (and for someone who likes their builds to be perfect, a constant, irritating visual reminder that the set is a bit off). It would be helpful if, in the instructions, there was more attention given to the importance of aligning the two bases. For example, and as I've tried to highlight in the pictures, the instructions could highlight that gray piece, to the effect of saying, "Be sure these two pieces perfectly align" (I mention these two gray pieces as they are an easy-to-spot visual queue as to whether or not the two bases are aligned). Again, I was able to attach the trees without any real difficulty, and the finished set is quite sturdy. Still, in addition to the visual annoyance, I wonder if - over time - having one base off-center will lead to stress on the entire set. At some point I'll likely tear this apart and correct the problem. For now, though, I'm pleased with the set and am happy to have snagged one before it heads into retirement.
