What a Picture!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I began to remove the Vizio V585X-H1 58” 4K TV from the box this weekend, I knew our family was in for a great experience. The packaging was great – everything was easy to remove – and we were ‘up and running’ in no time.
We chose to place the TV on a wall mount (already in place) which was easily accomplished. Plugged in the HDMI cable from our Cable Service, attached our steaming device through the third HDMI port, and as a bonus, used HDMI Port #1, which is also the ARC port on the V585X-H1, to connect with our Vizio V51-H6 soundbar.
Plugged in the power cord and within seconds we were inputting the needed information to connect to our home WIFI, named the location for the TV, took care of all of the other registration information needed and waited just a few minutes as the TV updated the firmware/software. We were watching the Masters Golf Tournament on our new Vizio V585X-H1 within 40 minutes of taking it out of the box. During Sunday Night Football, it looked at times as if the players were going to join us right in our lounge. We could even pick out raindrops on the players helmets as we watched!
Everyone I know has their own preferences when it comes to what kind of picture, and sound levels, they want on their television. Our family is no exception. After watching for about an hour, and putting the TV through its paces including Smartcast, Watchfree, and our streaming service, I made just a couple of picture and sound adjustments that work best for our family.
During setup, the V585X-H1 synced right up with our cable service remote allowing us to use it to control power on/off, the volume, as well as cable channel selection. A huge plus in these days of multiple remotes. We do keep the remote that came with the TV on hand to control Smartcast and Watchfree when not using the Smartcast App (which worked right away) on our smartphones and tablets.
We plugged in a USB ‘thumb drive’ with pictures from our last vacation in Hawaii. The pictures were clear and crisp, and navigation was easy.
In conclusion, our family is average when it comes to technical ‘expertise.’ However, technical ‘expertise’ is not needed with the V585X-H1. Set up was easy – viewing from wide angles great, the picture and sound crisp and clear. We highly recommend the Vizio V585X-H1 as a great family TV that will provide great entertainment value!

Perfect Screen Size!

I am pleased with my new Vizio 58” Smart TV. It is the perfect size for my small living room, and fit on the same console that held my previous television.
It is a reasonably priced quality product, I highly recommend this TV.

Great TV for a great price.

I have only had it for 2 weeks. I love the image, its super clear. The home page is organized and easy to switch between applications. The free movies and channels are amazing as well. My only complaint would be the sound. The quality could be better, and the way the voices are so low and the music so loud has you going up and down on the volume throughout movies. But overall its an excellent TV for a very, very good price!

An Immersive Experience

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Vizio 58" V-Series, model V585-H1 is a visually immersive experience. Esthethically, the thin bezel in the graphite gray and brushed metal finish is pleasing to the eye.
Like most modern flat panels, the TV is lightweight, yet with substance to it. That is, it does not have a cheap feel to it despite its light weight. One thing that posed a temporary issue was the VESA screw spacing. I replaced a 50" Vizio with this model. The previous model had a 100 mm screw pattern. This model had a 300 mm x 200 mm spacing. Fortunately I was able to order an adaptor plate from a well known online company, and received it the next day. Installing it on a wall mount required 3 people to maneuver it (2 to lift and hold, 1 to line up and install the screws). If you have a wall mount with a plate designed with the 300 mm x 200 mm spacing and keyhole style screw holes, it is likely it would only require 2 people to lift and mount it.
The built in apps is pretty typical of smart TV's.
And now to the picture: WOW! My initial evaluation involved watching the movie Gemini Man. I didn't choose that movie for the reason that proved to be the outstanding feature of this TV. It has color accuracy that has you saying 'that's what it looks like in real life!'. The skin complexion was reproduced in a way that was clearly accurate. The high definition allowed you to see pores and whiskers on the star of the movie. But what was a real attention getter was when the villain first pursued the hero in Cartegena, Columbia. The yellow buildings contrasting against the vintage colored cars had me mesmerized. My wife was equally impressed.
Next, I watched a BBC nature show on the native Netflix app. The program opened with a multi-colored kingfisher plunging into still water to capture a fish. It was done in super slow-mo with a high definition camera. You could see the colors of the bird's plumage being reflected in the droplets of water that were hurled upwards as the kingfisher broke the surface of the water. It was a breathtaking image.
For a suggested retail price of $349.99 you get a lot of TV. I have always purchased Vizio TV's (6 of them now) because of the outstanding value, and because straight out of the box, they have a beautiful picture. I once purchased another major brand, a company well known for their optical products, and was very disappointed. I took it back and bought another Vizio. Vizio may not have the type of name recognition of other companies, but I don't make large purchases based on brand names. I look for value, features, and usability. This TV fits the bill. With the holidays coming up, this would make a wonderful gift without dropping a load of cash.
