This printer is more than I needed but it was the only option available at the time I ordered that would fit my needs. Set up was not a snap. Inserting cartridges onto springs seems a weak point. My major complaint is the amount of vibration this machine causes when printing. I move it from a desk to the top of a 3 drawer file cabinet and the whole cabinet shimmies when the printer is printing.
The ADF holds very little paper. The scan and fax quality is terrible. The output tray holds very little paper. My computer loses connection and it is a wired connection.. The device has frozen on me at least 3 times and I have only had it from 10/11 to 10/28. You only got 2 stars because I like the envelope tray.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has performed poorly on several fronts and that you’re dissatisfied with some of its design elements. I can easily understand why that would be quite a frustrating combination, so I’ll offer a resource and some information I hope will help.
I can’t tell from your review why your printer loses its connection and has frozen up several times, so I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty
This product did not ship with a disc for installing drivers and I could not download the drivers from HP’s site. I had to pay for a third party to get the online drivers to load.
With COVID-related remote work and school we needed a workhorse printer. This OJP fits the bill! So fast! Pros: speed, ease-of-use (love the app), Instant Ink (this is a game-changer, people!), responsive screen (these printer screens are often a pain to deal with). Cons: the setup could have been easier. The instructions showed me to put the ink cartridges into the box and there was an icon suggesting that things would snap into place. But when you press the cartridges in, there is a springiness and so I initially wasn't sure that I had properly installed them. This led me to spend the next five minutes messing around until I was sure that they were in properly. But once I got over that hurdle, it was smooth sailing!
If you want to scan, problems with this feature. Scan does not work.

Hi, Carla.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer’s scan feature has not worked. Your review is brief, but your disappointment is clear – and totally understandable – so I’ll offer some information and a resource I hope will help.
First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various problems, including scanning. On that page you’ll also find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common scanning and printing issues. Visit that page here: - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting.
