I wish the folks that develop these printers would enlist the use of focus groups before releasing their products. Asking for a review at this point is a little late. Its NOT USER friendly. What's up with having no ability to print Word.docs? I do NOT like this printer. Buying online is the easiest way to get craps you don't think you'll get. I do not recommend HP anymore. They once had my business. They lost it with this printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi, Blake.
I’m sorry to learn that you’ve encountered such difficultly and inconvenience since you purchased your printer. I can readily understand why confusing functionality and the inability to print certain types of documents would be an unwelcome surprise and a bad start to owning the device. I want to help you get the printer working to your satisfaction or otherwise resolve the situation, so I’ll provide links to some resources I hope will accomplish that.
First, the printer should print Microsoft Word documents. To figure out why that’s not happening, I suggest you visit the page on our support site below, where you’ll find troubleshooting guides specific to your printer as well as user manuals, how-to documents and software updates: - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/37934143
You can also visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various tasks and issues. There you’ll find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common printing and scanning issues. Visit that page here: - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
If any problem persists or you need assistance, I recommend that you contact us directly so we can help you assess the situation and determine the best course of action. I’ll point out that HP+ printers come with exclusive concierge support. To call and reach live HP+ experts, visit the following URL and enter your HP+ serial number: - hp.com/plus-help
I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies – and that warranty extends to two years with an HP+ account – so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: - support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty
The 8610e to me is/was a better printer for all your needs. The printer tray needs to taken out and rein stated almost after every print job. The scanner constantly sends error message of the original copy is jam and the printer has to be reset.
I have only had this printer a short time. It is very easy to set up and use. The print quality is amazing. I would buy this printer again without any hesitation. I would recommend this printer to anyone looking for a great printer.
the scanner is slow. still not sure how to set up shortcuts to scan to email so I don't have to type in lengthy email addresses. The color cartridges that came with the printer are on low from the beginning.

Hi, Eileen.
I'm so sorry to hear about the inconveniences you've experienced with this printer. It's unfortunate that you’ve had to wait so long for scans and not been able to create a shortcut for the scan-to-email function. With that in mind, let’s see if I can help you make some adjustments to improve the efficiency of this feature.
While scan speeds vary based on the complexity of a document, waiting very long for a scan to complete shouldn’t be happening. I suggest that you visit a page on our support site that has various diagnostic tools, including a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common scanning as well as printing issues. Visit that page here: - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
I also suggest that you follow the steps in this guide you’ll find on our support site to setting up a scan-to-email connection you can operate from the printer control panel to an email inbox: - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06859618

Hi there.
I’m sorry to learn that your printer’s fax function has performed so poorly for you. Your review is brief, but it’s no surprise that you’re a bit shocked here, considering the fax stopped working after two pages. I want to help you resolve this situation, so I’ll provide some resources and information I hope will meet that goal.
First, I recommend that you follow this guide on our support site to resolving fax problems. It covers sending and receiving faxes, errors displayed when faxing, and fax quality, among other things: - support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2500974-2361942-16

While the printer itself is terrific, the Setup Guide instructions are useless because they are utterly wrong. Step 8 states, "Follow instructions in HP Smart to connect the printer to a network and activate HP+ features." This is untrue. The setup cannot be performed without the assistance of a tech support person at HP, and even then it takes a good half hour while the tech needs to "take over" the computer to make the connection.
Disappointing that newer technology eliminates capabilities that older models provided!

Hi there.
I’m sorry that you’re disappointed with your printer. I can certainly understand your reaction, considering you were more satisfied with an older model device. I can’t tell from your review what features have left you feeling this way, but I’ll nonetheless provide some resources that I hope will help you have a better experience in the future and get all you can from the printer.
First, to learn more about your printer and all its features, or for help solving problems, you can access user manuals, how-to documents, software updates and troubleshooting guides here: - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/37934143
You can also visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various tasks and issues, including setup, cartridge installation, print quality and connectivity. There you’ll also find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common printing and scanning issues. Visit that page here: - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
If you need further assistance with anything, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find the best course of action. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
Print quality poor about 50% of the time. The printer will stop saying paper is jammed. I check, open the top, move things, no paper found. When I have time I will call about Warranty. Good thing my HP 8725 is still running strong.

Hi there.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has performed so poorly. It’s no surprise that you’re exasperated, considering you dealt with poor print quality and “false” paper-jam error messages. I want to help you resolve this situation, so I’ll direct you to some resources and provide some information I hope will reach that goal.
First, if you’ve not done so already, I recommend following the steps listed in a guide on our support site to improving print quality, including faded or streaked prints, color or black ink not printing properly or at all, and blurred or fuzzy text. Find that guide here: - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06191659
Regarding paper jam messages, as you’ve unfortunately discovered, sometimes these can be real or false, meaning the printer can report an error when there is no jammed paper. I recommend referencing the steps in this document to troubleshoot real as well as false paper jams: - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06201289
