It is far inferior quality compared to my 8640. It is slower and doesn’t have a paper guide on the end.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there.
I’m sorry to learn that you’re so disappointed with your printer. I can wholly understand why slow printing and dissatisfaction with the design of the paper feeding system would be quite a letdown. I want to help you remedy the print speed issue and get the device working to your satisfaction, so I’ll provide some resources I hope will help.
First, I recommend that you follow a guide on our support site that covers improving print speed; choose whichever of the following two links matches your operating system: - Windows: support.hp.com/us-en/document/bud03409 - Mac OS: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01928898
Also, often just updating the firmware can help improve print speed. You can find out how to do that here: - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02919168
To learn more about your printer and all its features, or for help solving problems, you can access user manuals, how-to documents, troubleshooting guides and software updates here: - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/37934143
If any problem persists or you need assistance with anything, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and determine the best course of action. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
I have had HP printers of this class for decades. This continues the line. I generally like them in terms of durability, but dislike the increasing use of thin plastic. The guides on the paper drawer, for example, seem awful flimsy and make it hard sometimes to re-insert the paper tray. The inside tends to get dirtier faster than older machines so that I get ink on my fingers when changing cartridges. Printing quality is very good but it can jam easier than earlier models. The app makes scanning more difficult than necessary, but it all does work. Overall a good printer, but HP can do a little better.
We like the printer but are still familiarizing ourselves with the differences from our last HP printer. We will know better, after a couple months of using it, if is it cost effective for us. It was simple to hookup and we like using HP Smart.
