Output tray hard to operate

Input and output trays seem to be interconnected making the input tray hard to open. There are two buttons on the top of the output tray that don’t seem to do anything. The online manual does not load on my computer.
Illustration on set up shows both trays recessed into the body of the printer. Both project about 1” when closed.

HP 8610 vs HP 8025e

Downgraded from an older HP 8610 Pro to this HP 8025e Pro. Nice printer - has all the features of the 8610, but a little slower and doesn't hold as much paper. Ink cartridges are smaller than the 8610 cartridges. Communicates better that the 8610, which developed some sort of problem communicating with my network. .
