Have to use their cartridges and if they don’t come you cannot purchase yellow anywhere. Several sheets feed thru while printing. Double sided smeared.

Just got this, haven't done any color printing, all B&W, about 200 pages and so far the cartridge is already over halfway gone! I don't think it should drain this fast, let me know if I'm wrong? Besides this the printer works great for all the my random home office needs, the wireless connectivity feature worked great as well!

Hi there.

Thanks for the review and the feedback. While I’m glad to hear that you like your printer’s wireless connectivity ability, and that it fits your printing needs, I’m sorry to hear you’re not satisfied with the rate it has used ink. I can understand why that would be a concern with a new printer, so I’ll provide some resources and information I hope will help.

First, I’m not sure whether you’re using a setup cartridge, a regular cartridge or an XL. Your printer uses the 912 ink cartridge. According to the HP website, the regular 912 black has a yield estimate of 300 pages, while the 912XL’s estimated yield is 825 pages. The numbers we use for page yields are estimates calculated by an international organization whose standards are used by all companies. So, results vary based on numerous factors.

Here are some facts on ink use that might help you get more prints without too much extra effort:
- As you probably already know, a high-density print (such as an image or graph) uses ink more quickly than a text-only document, particularly if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
- Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink, particularly the colors.
- Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer to 'park' so that the nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper are protected from excess drying.

If you have any further questions about ink use or any other aspect of your printer, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
