Bought this printer to help with organizing and printer my genealogy. I can work from ANYWHERE. It was a dream to set up and began using it immediately. I’m a multi-talker and can now work on my phone and send to printer. No more wasted time. Drs office, waiting for friend (who’s always late), or have an extra 20 minutes, work and print. Ready in the tray when I get home. This printer is a genealogists dream come true.

The set-up was complicated for a novice like me. I needed clearer directions to connect to my laptop and had to spend over an hour on the phone to get help. The person was really wonderful and the printer works fine now but I wish the set-up directions were clearer.

I can’t tell from your review why your printer has not worked like it should – or what method you’ve used to contact support – so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 2 frustrations: One is the document feeder. It has to be managed through the app and can't be done on the printer panel. In my case, I keep my printer in another room. I have to go there to load the document, go back to my computer to copy/scan through the app then return to the printer to retrieve my documents. Like all reviews, this goes through ink like crazy, but that's to be expected since I think it's where profits lie. I understand the subscription model is where everything is moving to. This leads to my second frustration: I hate that HP has access to my printer and every page I print 24/7. I would be fine with it checking in each month when I allow it to sync so they can capture the data, but I dislike any company having that access. I can't be sure they are only accessing my printer because I believe it goes through the software on my computer - thus they have access to my computer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I hate this printer.

Thought that this printer was easy to set up at first, but then I spent hours trying to figure out why it wouldn't print any more. Called HP to find out that in order to get this printer to work, I *had* to sign up for the Instant Ink subscription. Basically, they hold the printer that you've already paid for hostage until you sign up for their subscription. Ended up signing up for it, it printed things for about 24 hours, and now it's not working again unless we have it plugged into our computer, as opposed to printing over wifi.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Regardless of how your printer is now otherwise performing, I can certainly see why those would be aggravating factors after making this purchase. With that in mind, I’ll offer some clarifying information as well as resource I hope will help you get your printer working to your satisfaction.

First, the absence of choice regarding Instant Ink was a technical issue with this printer line that lasted several days but has since been corrected. You should be able to opt out of the subscription now if you prefer.
