I purchased this printer based on previous printers from HP, what a terrible mistake. I’m not a novice , the setup for this model took days, not minutes. I have a password protected WiFi, I was unable to program the printer. The paper jams are frequent,I could go on and on! Needless to say I missed my time frame for returning.
I have already recycled and purchased another brand , which I might add is working beautifully
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This HP OJ replaced an older model so I was familiar with OJ's and with HP.
The 3830's modest footprint doesn't take up too much room. Came with HP Smart software to use on a Win 10 device. Has screen buttons to choose the function you want: print, photo print, copy, scan, fax, order ink. Don't use fax so can't comment on this function.
Can print etc from the glass top, the rear feed tray, or the top feeder tray. The feed tray is in the rear so you can't see an entire envelope when feeding one in but it's ok and works fine.
First page comes out almost instantly. Can handle up to 8.5 x 14 paper when the rear feed is used.
Nice assortment of adjustments for print and scan. Scan is a bit slow but this is not intended to be a high production business machine.
Delivers very satisfactory color prints and, with HP Instant Ink, at very low cost.
Have not had a paper jam yet so not sure how much fun it is to clear a jam. Easy to install ink. The 3830 has a touch screen which is easy and handy to use.
Can connect to a Windows device with a network or a USB cable.
Can't find much to complain about. So far it's been a reliable, easy to use home printer.

this was a good deal for me at this time. wireless printing is great ...but to use usb is a challenge to get, download & install software. that , said I do like the feature of touch screen printing. this works great for me at home. i passed on the the ink situation based on reading review of how it works...aughhh.
