There is no setting on this printer to default black ink print. It will use the color ink on every print job unless you force to black. HP, that was deliberate.

I found the manual lacked information on how to operate the device. I had to download the manual online. Also, I found installing the inkjet cartridges was poorly designed.

This product has overall great features. I was a bit disappointed that it did not automatically do 2-sided copies, but in retrospect realized that it does them manually and was advertised as such. Making multiple 2-sided copies has proved to be a bit difficult. Otherwise, I feel the print quality is good and the pictures that I have printed have been excellent. Overall, this is a good printer that takes up minimal space in my home office.

The product should include instructions on how to use its features, i.e. Fax, Scan, such as an owners manual, or at the very least information on how usage can be obtain. Availability on a computer is not sufficient, Consider those that are not very computer savvy.

Got this printer to replace a lower end HP printer - this one copies multiple pages with a auto feed feature and prints without jamming after a few pages like my old HP did. The scan feature is the same though - 1 page at a time - wish it could scan multiple pages at once but over all am pleased. Love the auto ink replacement feature.
