Beware of design/manufacturing flaw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this refrigerator seven months ago. Until recently it seemed to perform well. However, it began to intermittently become intolerably loud to the point where the dog would start howling. I scheduled a repair and the problem continued to worsen in the days until our appointment. The noise would continue for longer periods followed by a period where the freezer and refrigerator would warm up. It turns out that there is a flaw in the way the water spout for the ice-maker interfaces with the back of the freezer. Over time, a gap opens up that allows water to drain down and freeze around the fan, The noise we heard was the fan blades striking the ice that had built up. The periods of warming up were caused when the ice buildup was so bad that the fan blade could not move. This is apparently a known flaw with an identified fix. A new (improved?) part will be installed next week. I do not know to what degree the life of the fan motor (and therefore the refrigerator) has been degraded by the extra load during periods of noise and freeze-up. I also fear there will be other quality issues that will show up in the future.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
