A very good refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this model last winter to replace my 1994 35-inch Whirlpool. The full sized side-by sides no longer fit into a 36" opening because the government was looking out for me and increased the insulation requirements, and I had come to love the side-by-side configuration. This is a good refrigerator. It holds its temperature pretty well, and the refrigerator side is just 1 cubic foot smaller than the old one. The freezer side works well, but it doesn't hold very much food. I am so glad I have a larger freezer in the garage. As for quality, the drawers in the fridge don't slide as easily as the former model, the shelf over the drawer on the freezer side comes loose easily, and the front panel of the tiny top compartment in the freezer door slides out too easily. The instructions say to remove all the food and turn it off and clean it out once a month. The problem is where to put all the food while the appliance comes back down to temperature after turning it back on. The filters for the water supply are very expensive and are supposed to be replaced every 6 months, but I understand that is true of all the newer fridges. I have seen people complain about the noise level in this and other refrigerators. It does make more noise of a different frequency than the old one did, but it doesn't interrupt anything in the rest of the house. I feel lucky to have this refrigerator because I hear the Feds have been messing with the requirements again, and most of the others already had worse problems. I do thank Whirlpool for making a good refrigerator that I feel I can depend on.
