We replaced a side by side with this French door style. Plus we went down a couple of inches in overall size. Prefer side-by-side hands down.

Horribly loud

Beautiful fridge. So loud. Noise rarely stops. Would not buy again. Previous much cheaper Samsung made way less noise. For a premium fridge this unacceptable.

Hello there, thank you for the honest feedback. We're so sorry to see your refrigerator is running louder than expected. We can certainly imagine how this would be disappointing for you.
We first recommend checking out the following article that includes normal refrigerator sounds: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901&_ga=2.249648005.287731196.1644248829-1233938546.1597758556
If you find yours to be abnormal, we recommend taking advantage of your warranty and scheduling service with a certified Cafe Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. You can do so by calling Cafe Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737) or by clicking here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm
We're confident our technician would be able to get you taken care of if needed. With that said, we'd also like to include that modern refrigerators have new features and are more energy efficient than older ones. The foam insulation used in new models has excellent insulating capabilities and is very energy efficient however it is not as sound absorbent as previously used fiberglass insulation.
Hard surfaces such as ceramic tile, vinyl or hard wood floors, walls and kitchen cabinets may make these operating sounds more noticeable. As a result, certain sounds may be unfamiliar on a new refrigerator at first. These sounds are normal and are usually an indication that the refrigerator is operating properly.
We hope this is found useful and we're wishing you the absolute best.

Exceptionally small freezer

It's a beautiful refrigerator but the water feature inside is inconvenient and not cold when dispensed. The drawers don't slide very well and freezer is very small.

Hello there, we appreciate you finding the time to leave your honest feedback. We're pleased to know you're finding your new refrigerator to be so beautiful, but sorry the water dispenser is inconvenient for you, that the water isn't always cold when dispensed, that the drawers aren't sliding well, and that your freezer is smaller than expected. We can certainly imagine your disappointment considering this is never the ownership experience we want for our consumers.
In regard to the water temperature, bottom freezer and French door refrigerators have a water reservoir coil in the fresh food section that cools 16 oz. of water. The water is chilled and stored until it is needed. Since the reservoir is in the fresh food section, the water will not be ice-cold.
The first time the dispenser is used, the chilled water lever may need to be pressed for two to three minutes to fill the reservoir for the first time. It takes approximately seven seconds to fill an eight ounce glass with water. After the 16 oz. of cold water is dispensed, any additional water dispensed will not be chilled until the water in the coil tubing has had time to chill again.
Next, we want you to know you've given us some great points that we'll be happy to bring up with our design team. Your feedback goes a long way in us making sure we're capitalizing on opportunities to improve upon our appliances, so we appreciate you reaching out.
If you need anything else, just let us know. We're wishing you the very best.

Ice problems
on February 8, 2022

The ice tray over fills and then drops cubes underneath the drawer when you open it. I actually don't think it ever quits making ice. We had a bad problem with the ice maker on our kitchen aid refrigerator and GE hasn't solved the problem . I really would like my money back, but then we would be without a refrigerator for 6 months while we wait for a different one and then we would not be assured of a good ice making system. This problem must be universal with appliance engineers. The rest of the design is fine.

Hello there, thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review. We are so sorry to hear about your issues with the ice maker overflowing, and we can definitely imagine how frustrating this would be. For this hassle, we sincerely apologize.
It can be difficult sometimes for the lever to detect the ice capacity depending on how the bucket fills and how quickly ice is used. Our icemakers are designed to make 90-120 cubes per day. If your family doesn’t use this much each day, we recommend shutting the icemaker off manually to avoid occasional overflow. Information on how to switch off the icemaker can be found on page 17 of the use and care manual here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-1000211-3.pdf
We hope that you find this information helpful, and we are always here if you need any assistance in the future. -Elliot@Cafe

Hi!
Thanks for taking the time to write. Sorry to hear that you're not totally pleased with your new unit. We did want to say that we don't rate our refrigerators and freezers in decibels so we're not able to provide a rating while they're running. However, if you'd like, you can take a look at the following article on our GEA website to read about normal and abnormal sounds that may come from your fridge: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901&_ga=2.172547619.1659825285.1644848053-2115960750.1644356528
Also, if you're wanting some cleaning tips, take a look in your Use and Care manual starting on page 18: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-1000211-3.pdf&_ga=2.160700093.1659825285.1644848053-2115960750.1644356528
Hope this is helpful for you! Know that we're always here to help.
