I waited nine months for this refrigerator

After waiting nine months to receive this refrigerator the icemaker is faulty and must be replaced. The part is of course “out of stock” so who knows how long I will wait this time. It is so handsome but you need to up your quality control!
I would recommend this to a friend!

However, there is a limited one-year warranty for your appliance. This warranty covers any part of the refrigerator which fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. During the limited one-year warranty, Café will also provide, free of charge, all labor and related service to replace the defective part. If you would like to take advantage of your warranty, we recommend scheduling service so a technician can diagnose and repair your unit. Poor quality

We purchased a matching set of GE Cafe appliance and while they are beautiful on the outside, the quality of materials is very poor. We've had this refrigerator for about a year, and there is already a large crack in the interior shell. The grade of plastic used to make the shell and drawers is poor quality, brittle and feels cheap. The drawers shimmy and do not glide well. Overall, there are higher quality products/options out there at this price point.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

BEWARE! Takes forever to get.

The refrigerator works fine although the interior water dispenser requires two hands to fill a glass of water - and don't even think about filling a pitcher because it will not fit under the spout. Here is the reason for its average rating - everything in the Cafe line takes more than a year to get and GE will not communicate any concrete information to their distributors. We are going on 15 months for the cook top and oven and all of the copper handles and knobs are back-ordered. I designed my whole kitchen around these appliances and this is how you treat me?

Hate this frig, but it fits in my kitchen

I have a very small kitchen, which means I am very limited on my frig options. This one does fit- but I truly hate it. I don't like the black sides on my white frig. Why would you do this? The freezer is tiny!! There is room for a larger drawer, but the way it was built makes for about half the size of my last freezer. It's hardly bigger than a beach cooler. Also, my freezer has so much ice build up in it. What in the world?!? I didn't have an ounce of that in my old freezer. Every time I pull an item out of the freezer, ice drops from it onto my floor. Cold, wet socks suck!! If I could switch this frig for a different one, I'd do it in a heart beat, but since it was so expensive, I'm stuck with it for awhile. Definitely a mistake buying this frig.

Looks beautiful but quality not the best

We love the looks of the refrigerator, but the freezer is very small and it doesn’t seal correctly when it closes. Not sure if this is normal or if ours is defected.

Very disappointing new Cafe refrigerator

Brand new installed in a new built home. Since day one there has been condensation and water dripping from inside the refrigerator. I am now up to 3 service tech visits. Three items have been replaced inside the unit. I am so disappointed in the performance quality. I have been a GE customer for decades. My dad retired from GE after 27 years. I expected much better than what I have experienced. They need to replace this frig. I think it’s a lemon

Terrible quality

One of the worst product and service experiences of my life! Only 6 months after installation, the compressor broke. When the GE repair person was supposed to replace it (2 weeks after it broke) he called and said that dispatch messed up his schedule for the day so he would have to come back in another two days. When he came back in another two days, he said the box with the compressor needed to be sitting a certain direction for 24 hours before he installed it. No one told me that!! Another four days later, he came back and replaced the compressor, but it still didn’t work! Another 4 days later he came back and said the compressor is broken and needs replacement again! At this point, I’m not sure if I trust the repair person to install a new compressor since it didn’t work the first time. I have now been without a fridge for 3.5 weeks and the issue still isn’t resolved
During this process GE has even tried to claim that my warranty is no longer valid because this fridge was part of a remodel instead of a new home build. Ridiculous!
In short, terrible product quality and terrible service quality!
I am never buying another GE product again!

Cafe LEMON ALERT

By 14 months, I had to have a repair person out 5 times (loud vibrating—still a problem; freezing my food). Now (off warranty) there is a loud periodic noise in the freezer. I’m guessing it’s the condenser. THIS MACHINE IS A LEMON AND GE WILL NOT REPLACE IT.
