The pop socket piece is very flexible and does not support the full weight of the phone and case together (when used as a stand, tilted). Perhaps if you put a different pop socket on it would be ok. The case itself is great and I have been happy with previous Otter Box cases.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear about any disappointment with your Otter + Pop Defender Series case! We usually suggest pulling out the PopTop all the way, then pushing down one side. This allows you to use the side that's still popped out as the stand for your phone.

I’ve had this case about a month now and it’s great my phone stays protected. As a traveling nurse I’m in and of my car and homes it protects my phone. I also love that I can use a pop socket with it

The case is 99% exactly what I wanted as a gift for my dad - a rancher who is tough on gadgets. The only downfall is that the pop socket (despite what the customer service pop up person said) does not compress entirely flush within the case.

I’ve used an Otterbox Defender on every iPhone I’ve owned. They are definitely the best case when it comes to protecting your phone. I’ve never had one break in one (knock on wood). I’ve always wanted to purchase a Popsocket but I never did. This was because I thought it would be too bulky and would interfere with wireless charging. This case has solved all my problems! The Popsocket sits almost flush so you can still wirelessly charge. My pinky finger no longer hurts from resting my phone on it. This was seriously one of the greatest collaborations ever.

The quality of the Otter box is great. My issue is that because the Pop Socket is recessed my finger rides much higher on the Pop Socket than a regular Pop Socket and the plastic lip at the top of the Pop Socket hurts my finger. Not happy with this design. It needs to be changed.

I bought this for when I travel not for everyday use as the case is very thick and it does not fit my everyday weather tech carphone accessory, but will be great protection when I’m traveling by bus or plane and it’s very easy to switch over. I wish it would have fit, I would use it as my main case.
