Great, but gears don’t appear to do anything

The build and building process was pretty fun, but i was disappointed to see that the gears changed nothing, I don’t know if I built it incorrectly or if they are there for looks, but they advertise it as a working gearbox so idk. The pistons also didn’t work well. I think this could be due to me only driving it around on carpet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Set Ever

I was gifted this over Christmas, and boy was I wowed throughout the build process. Getting to construct (from scratch) the entire powertrain was both difficult and exciting. I haven't built a LEGO set in many years, but this definitely re-lit that spark. The TECHNIC line of LEGO has always been my favorite, and this set raised the bar. It was so much fun watching everything come together. I would have to say the suspension is the party piece. I have never experienced a set with this much suspension manipulation.
I was not missing any pieces and the instructions did not have a single fault. It all went together perfectly (with the occasional confusion induced four letter word). A challenging set that kept me occupied for three days with on-and-off building. I highly recommend this glowing product.

Highly detailed and great value

Really enjoyed this set. Took my time and spaced it out over a week. Highly detailed, loved the working winch and rear door.
Had to make some adjustments to get the gears and engine moving but other than that had no issues.
Great value for the price. Going by the 10cents a piece average this set beats it by almost 600 pieces. Would definitely recommend.

Extremely detailed

It feels like you’re building am actual Land Rover. The details of the interior are shockingly realistic, especially the engine.

Lots of fun, take your time

My favorite Lego build to date. I'd read all the reviews before I started the build so I was EXTRA careful to check every step and recheck it as I built. I didn't want to use a part that I shouldn't have (causing me to run out later) or put something together wrong. Even after all my careful building, I somehow ended up with one mistake about 2/3rds into the project with one piece oriented incorrectly that set me back over an hour.
In the end, everything was perfect, all parts were included and everything worked as it should. As has been mentioned numerous times, it's a shame that the finished build hides pretty much all of the super cool work done in phase two. It'd almost be more interesting to display it without the body so you can see the gears, transmission and drive train in action.
This is not a set that builds itself, like so many are...one has to think and study the manual at times to make sure they really are getting it right, and I appreciated the challenge.
Well done Lego.

Technic Is Becoming My Favorite

This was my favorite Technic build until I built the Bugatti. I found several missing pieces in this set which Lego Support shipped out. It is rare to have missing pieces. I like the winch function, the rear door latch and the ability to steer the wheels. I am a builder/collector. They are for display.

Great building experience

I have built at least 1000 Lego sets between ones that I bought for me, my daughter, or my nephew. Most of my UCS star wars ships were amazing to build, but my favorite for a long time was my Flagship 10210. This Technic set has now taken the crown for amazing building experience. I found myself wondering what section I was building, and how are they going to make this work many many times. The instructions are pretty clear, the design was phenomenal, I'm so exciting to have this in my collection.

Great set - instructions lacking

This set was a lot of fun to put together, but the instructions were lacking in detail. Trying to determine light gray, medium gray, dark gray, darker gray and black on the instructions was very confusing. The gears should be pictured face on, not from an angle so you know what gear to use and show in actual size. It's 2021 - why not use actual pictures of the parts instead of poorly colored drawings? It also drove me crazy to have to put parts in blind spots connecting behind the parts pictured - the page is big enough to show both sides.
