An Excellent Technics Model
on January 7, 2022
Posted by: FRSblue15
I have spent a decent portion of my off-time between woodworking and modeling during the pandemic. I purchased my first Technics set last February - the Lamborghini. It was a great way to start out. I have added several models since but was really excited about the Land Rover. I love the complexity and engineering that goes into these models. The transmission and transfer case on this model are truly impressive. I’ve always loved cars and have built all types of models through the years. This is my favorite modeling genre because you can disassemble and reassemble the models any time you want. I now have a grandson who will be really excited to build some of these in the future. All of the details are what really makes these models so cool. I’m already eyeing the BMW motorcycle. I also have to build more display shelves so this fits in with my other passion. Keep the designs coming please!

I enjoyed this set and as I like to try to modify most sets I upgraded this to a 6x6 for even a better adventure vehicle.

Love the Land Rover!
on March 2, 2022

First off, I love Land Rover vehicles. My girlfriend got me this Lego on our anniversary. I enjoyed building it very much. It took me around 10 hours to build it. I mess up a couple times but I still manage to complete it. I went through the review and saw a lot of Lego builders complaining their Lego Land Rover rear suspension isn't carrying the weight. I couldn't believe it because mine was working fine. I did some research and found out some builders are putting the suspension in the wrong spot. I have a picture showing the correct spot to put it in. Red circle is the correct spot, and I Blue circle is the incorrect spot. I see a lot of builders putting the suspension in that spot. I hope I help ya'll out with the rear suspension issue.

My Favorite LEGO!

I purchased this LEGO a year ago, it was a challenging and fun build! I didn’t have any problems with the stickers or build, however I Recommend Watching the “RacingBrick” videos online because they are extremely helpful. This LEGO proves that a lot of designing was invested into it. I also recommend playing with it at least every other day, because if you don’t you will start hearing clicking noises from the gears (this happens if dust collects inside the gears). Other than that this is the ultimate TFOL and AFOL LEGO set!

Its like building the real car

It's a love/hate relationship with that car... I had to redo several sections because the pictures are sometimes difficult to be 100% accurate. I had to rebuilt the engine a couple of different times because SO MANY PIECES -- they need more tutorials on this build. Not like any other lego I have ever seen or built and that makes it awesome, but man, what a battle. Its like a puzzle inside of a puzzle inside of a puzzle.

Great Technical Set!

Truly enjoyed this build! I like to take my time building, and use the process to relax and forget about the world. This set really allowed me to concentrate on nothing else but the pieces in front of me. The ingenuity that went into the drive train and gear box is awesome, and the added features (winch, spare tire door lock, pistons, etc.) really make this build stand out.

I was hesitating of becoming a LEGO fan (because of the price), until I purchased this item. This gigantic and monster surprised me with its smooth ride and shock absorber function. Worth every penny I spent.

Great set for advanced builders

We did the set together with my 7y old son. It's one of the most complicated set I have made so far. It takes time and it is hard but as long as you follow instructions carefully there is no major trouble.
The gearbox is amazing and it is the highlight of the set. Unfortunately I don't think it is possible not to have it cracking in 3rd / 4th gear. The torque applied to some of the pieces is just too strong. It's running smoothly for other gears. Design could have been simplified a little to avoid this.
We made small changes to make it sort of a convertible. Not Land Rover approved but a great way to see better the inside.
As many, I am not a fan of stickers, one or two Land Rover printed pieces would have been great.
Two quick suggestions : - it would be great to show in the instructions where to fit the motors if we want to. - For this type of model Novice / Advanced builder mode in the instructions would be great. Being able to split tasks between two builders based on their skills and have independent part being built before getting assembled. A great way to get young Lego enthusiasts directly involved in this type of build.
