This was a great toy. I enjoy playing with it every now and then. It was not that challenging of a build. It was a fun build overall. It gave this build four stars because the winch broke while I was playing with it. It is one of my favorite builds.

Initially I was unhappy with the price, but when it arrived it had the thickest instruction manual BY FAR of any lego I've ever purchased. Many Lego sets that are half the price only take about an hour to build. This took nearly 8 hours, making the amount of time spent building well worth the price.
The set itself is amazing. Many working parts, very intricate. I think it's my favorite set so far. I had plans to build another with my own lego's in another color, but it has so many new and one-of-a-kind parts that it's nearly impossible to re-create.

Very challenging, however very fun to build. the interior isn't as detailed as I thought, but the outside looks better than real.

An accurate representation of the real vehicle

This is another good kit from the Technic series. Was a decently challenging build but not too overly hard. It can be done in a day. The drive-train is very detailed and the design follows very closely to the actual vehicle.

cool build. bad play

You spend so much time building all the gearing. The model as completed does not let you play. Gears can be shifted. Does nothing when rolling it.
You have to find one of the mods to put in a motor, or a crank on the front to turn the engine and watch how the gears affect the drive.
So in the end, all these cool details are useless in the default build.

Great but could be better

Sooo i picked this up about 2 months ago and built it in about a week but not everything was clear and i wish that it was, The lego defender is a great show piece BUT There were at least more than 50+ pieces missing if only these sets were a little more clear it would be a nice calm swift build.

Oh wow! That’s really unusual, and I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had such a disappointing experience. If there isn't a bag still stuck in the box or a few similar pieces used in an incorrect step of the instructions, don't worry! We're here to help.

Fun build - impressive gearing detail
on August 17, 2020

I got this as a gift and had seen it but wasn't overly impressed online so never bought it. It was a surprisingly fun and detailed build! The engine has virtually no real detail to it, but the transfer casing and transmission components more than make up for it. Solid build and sturdy once complete, this one can actually be played with. I actually removed the roof storage and side components, I rather like the cleaner look. My only complain, as is with nearly all the kits these days are the reliance on decals for detail. Would really love to see more printed bricks- I know it is possible and honestly I think it is worth a reasonable increase in kit price.
Still a great build and has a bold look. Would love to see a relationship with Chrysler for a solid Jeep Renegade!
