A LEGO Engineering Feat

Throughout my LEGO building career, I have had multiple sets that were fairly static in their nature. However, this build had a lot of dynamic components which made it such a beautiful piece to display. As you go through the various steps, the lineage is quite impressive, especially when you consider that the LEGO design team was in contact with Land Rover Engineers. Being a Mechanical Engineering Student, I found this amazing to apply to my knowledge, and hope LEGO collaborates with other manufacturers for these mid-range TECHNIC vehicle sets that are not as expensive as those such as the Bugatti or Lamborghini.

This LEGO Technic set is absolutely incredible. The features in it are absolutely amazing. The gearbox works great, The steering is awesome, and the suspension system is the best! I also love the winch and the roof rack. I give this set five humongous stars, and totally recommend it.

Built It Twice

I loved building this Defender the first time. But when I was finished I realized one back wheel went one way and the other went the opposite way. I emailed Lego about my problem and they called me about what to do. I ended up taking it all apart and starting over. It was not as much fun the second time, but I did it correctly this time.

Would be great if it had a motor and were drivable

I really enjoyed the build - did have to take most of the front end off after completion due to my error in forgetting one small piece that caused the steering wheel to bind, but after that (2 hour detour) I was about to enjoy the look and feel of this truck. My only suggestion to LEGO is that they make this thing drivable. I would love to be able to put a motor in it and drive it around, but it's now just a nice thing to sit and admire on my shelf at work. I think it could be more than that, but still it does attract attention.

Love the build. Took my time and enjoyed every minute. The only complaint is that it was missing some small pieces. Nothing essential but a little aggravating. I would recommend it.

Fun Build

I probably haven’t built anything with Legos since my kids were young (so over a decade). We have been watching LegoMasters on TV and the Land Rover looks pretty close to my FJ Cruiser. My children bought it for me as a 50th Birthday present after my wife told them how much I have been looking at buying Legos after watching the show.
I really enjoyed the build and experiencing Legos firsthand again. Thanks for the fun set and I am looking forward to the next challenge.
