I got this product for my Birthday and I love it. But the only thing is that it is not that fast. But overall it was fun to build and fun to play with!

A lot of phone time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and 9 year old granddaughter are the ones that took on this challenge. My granddaughter is quite the lego fan. They enjoyed themselves while assembling the vehicle. My husband said assembly wasn't too difficult. The vehicle seemed to work pretty well. He was a little put off by the fact that you spend all you time looking at your phone while using the controls instead of watching the vehicle.

A beast!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Man this was a beast of a challenge and boy did it come out just right. It was a challenge to put together for my son and I. But once it was built this bad boy was built tough. Using your phone to control the truck is amazing. Looking for a father and son project this will be a start. After that 958 piece you be thankful you spent time with your kid building it and watching him or her enjoying it.

A build for all. Remote driven with motors and fun to play with. A Lego set that will be talked about for a long time. Strong build bright color big tires. Overall a master piece.

Fun To Drive

While building is important to many, what to do with the item after assembly is more important to me. I don't want another dust collecting piece of plastic decoration. Others want something to just put on a shelf and look at. This item offers more than that. The interface does need to be swapped so steering is on the right and throttle is on the left. If you write a profile using the Lego PF application, you can decide where the controls go. The Lego application control software only offers one interface, not two. I like the fact that the entire top of the truck can be removed so you can take the hub out for a battery swap. No screwdriver needed for the hub battery cover. I have two of these trucks. I drive them outside at the park. The range is not bad, but my phone overheats. They are good crawler trucks. The wheel hubs have built in gear reduction, which is nice. The ball joint drive shafts to the wheels are like the Audi E-Tron. They are good. These trucks can drive over quite a few outside obstacles. Just make sure you have a fresh set of 6AA in the hub. The next time I build this truck, I might change some of the gears. I prefer the differential gears used in the Audi instead of the 3 gear differentials in this kit, if there is room. If not, I would use the 5 gear box with the red double bevel gear instead with the black 24 tooth double bevel gear to turn it, which will give good torque. I think the Daytona SP3 has a good differential that might work in this truck. It's the 5 gear differential gearbox with the yellow gears (same as the Audi). This truck uses the tire rims that will allow install of Wrangler Adventure R/C hobby grade 1.9 crawler tires with foam inserts. I have not tried that yet, instead of the tractor tires this kit comes with. That might be another experiment in the future.

Good build but bad driving

A couple years ago I gave this to my son who had been asking me to buy it forever. We gave it to him and he quickly built it and had tons of fun driving it. However in less than two weeks the rear axels locked. Thinking it was a stick or something like that lodged into the gears he rebuilt it and it worked for another 15 minutes or so before it did the same thing. We then put it into storage and forgot about it until now. He rebuilt it AGAIN and used brand new batteries. This time the front motor spun pretty well but the rear motor would weakly spin for about 5-10 seconds and stop. We would also try driving it downhill which would work but it wouldn't ever drive on flat ground. I feel like he has tried everything and the xl motor for the rear wheels is broken inside. Unfortunately lego has retired this product and we cannot get it. Any ideas on how to fix this?
