DO NOT follow instruction manual for DESCALING
on May 18, 2021

KEK1565 - I bought 2 kettles (1 Black, 1 Red as a gift) last week from David Jones, Doncaster. This is probably the only kettle which has all stainless steel interior available in Australia, so I was supper happy and bought 2 in the one go. Due to Covid, as a cleaning process, I boiled the brand new Black kettle with water a couple of times, followed by the Vinegar Descaling AS PER INSTRUCTION MANUAL. What a shock! At boiling point, water gushed out everywhere, see attached photos. A video was recorded but could not be attached here. TO KitchenAid - I feel this is very dangerous especially when I first did it I had other electronic equipment nearby. What about when children and the frail old persons are nearby?

We love all stainless steel interior which we cannot find often amongst all kettles available in the current market. The tea tastes cleaner than our previous kettle which had a bit of part made with plastic inside of kettle.

We are happy with the electric kettle, it would be better if there was a way that you could see the level externally, raising the lid to check level is inconvenient.

Disappointing build quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Within a few months of purchase the LED indicator on the switch has stopped working, and the chrome finish around the top rim is coming off. For a relatively expensive kettle I expected better.

Best Kettle Ever

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There is absolutely no plastic inside this kettle which is why I purchased it. The stainless steel interior gives you a pure clean taste and is a healthier option than all those other kettles with plastic components in them. Love, love, love this kettle, would highly recommend.

Mixed feelings mainly disappointed

I have been using this kettle for over 2 years now. The things I liked about this kettle when I bought it was the colour and how it keeps the water warm a bit longer. I bought this due to thinking it wouldn’t get the rusty stuff on the inside and thinking it would last and would be a healthier option than having a plastic kettle. After a few months I started noticing the inside was discolouring that rusty look. I did notice another review said the same thing so I did take that risk. I also looked after the kettle and didn’t let water sit in there for long periods. The concerning part I have is the brittle plastic lid which I only just realised is crumbling away which can be seen on the photos and the plastic particles are on my fingers when lightly touched. Approx 6 months after I bought the kettle I just assumed it was discolouration however it is concerning that my children and I have been consuming these particles and it is annoying because the reason I didn’t buy a plastic kettle was to avoid that. I have never put water in the kettle past the recommended line. As it is only used for water it has only been wiped clean gently with water and cloth for mainly dusting. The colour of the kettle in general has also discoloured significantly as can be seen on the photos. The kettle used to keep water hot for longer when I first bought it however after approx 6 months this significantly reduced and now I would need to boil the kettle again for a cup of tea if it was waiting over 5 minutes. These photos are taken now (2 years later) however the discolouration and brittle plastic occurred approx 6 months later and rusting occurred 3 months after owning. This is expensive compared to other kettles and definitely recommend doing research for a better and safer option

Major issue with black mark

I bought one about a year ago. It looks great but has this major issue where, after a very short space of time, black discolouration occurs and gets worse as time goes on. The company told me it's due to one not leaving any water behind in the jug after use so it burns, hence the black mark. I assume the element must sit directly under the stainless steel casing for this to happen. The company replaced the kettle with a new one but I have the problem again with the new one. One should not have to remember to leave some water in the jug each time you use it but if you don't, the burn mark appears and cannot be removed. I've never had to do this with previous kettles I have owned. It is also the noisiest jug I've ever heard. And expensive, not worth the price.
