Consistent Results

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The only thing we would change about this toaster is that the brownness adjustment lever is a little too close to the lever that lowers the bread into the toaster. Quite often, when raising the bread to be removed, we accidentally hit the brownness adjustment. Fortunately, it is easy to adjust the brownness back to where we want it. We find that the toasting is very consistent with a nice variety of browning options. It might take a few tries to determine the exact level you want for a particular type of bread, but you can count on it producing the same results every time.

Lots of Features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toaster matches my kitchen decor and other appliances, and has lots of features and directions that need to be read carefully, even if you have been using a toaster your whole life. I assumed to toast the bread darker you would push the lever down, not up -- thinking pushing it down would leave the bread down and toasting for a longer time! Wrong!. I spoke with several different customer service reps who, when I explained the problem, just sent me another toaster. I would also note, that the icons that represent the different functions are on the side of the toaster and hard to see. My recommendation is with some reservations, but I know Kitchen Aid generally makes excellent products.

Preheating improves toasting quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The heat is not sufficient to toast bread properly because if used as directed, by the time bread is toasted, the bread has been dried out. We've tried all sorts of different types and thicknesses of bread and the only way we've be able to get the toaster to toast properly, is to preheat the toaster by first running an cycle with it empty. Now with a hot toaster, the toast cycle is shorter, the bread is nice and crusty brown on the outside and the inside is soft and chewy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The last KitchenAid Long Slot Toaster I had was over 20 years old and the only reason I had to replace it was because the lift lever broke. With some finagling I kept on toasting with it and I am praying that this new model lasts as long. The new toaster is rounded and very ungainly looking so takes up more counter space. The controls are a bit on the small side and harder to read. The controls on the old one were on the long side which worked better for me. I'm baffled as to why the crumb tray is on the back end where I have to unplug then pull the toaster away from the wall. Love the red. I will keep you posted as the years go by.

The atypical shape fits much better in our small kitchen than generic 2 slot toasters. The sides never get hot, and even long pieces of toast fit this slot.
The color is such a rich red (same as my KitchenAid stand mixer).
Highly recommend.
