I use this for my road rides and it works great. I like this over the 530 because sometimes it is hard to hit the buttons with gloves on and this one is touch screen!

I upgraded from the Edge 520 to the 830 mainly to get improved mapping but also for the Varia RCT715 integration. The simplicity of setting up that device as well as the increased safety and easy to read details makes this a no-brainer combination. Added bonus to integrate TrailForks mapping for offroad rides or resetting my route on the fly. highly recommend this device!

Easy to use motivation, navigation and data recording

Love the simplicity of the touch screen and having several different profiles for different bikes and riding types. Battery life is excellent. Connecting to my di2 bike was a game changer, shows the position of the drivetrain and allows me to monitor the battery life of the shifting system. So many other features in this small, moderately priced device.

I've been using Garmin bike computers for years. First the 730, then the 510, and now the 830. All have been fantastic and have lasted a long time. Garmin bike computers continue to evolve and the 830 is a step up in so many ways from the previous two. Integration with accessories is a snap. The 830 connects effortlessly with both my power meter and a HR strap and it maintains the connections with both during use. The mapping function is great especially the integration with Trailforks. I've used this a number of times when riding new trails and it's kept me going in the right direction. Battery life is also fantastic. Where the older models would sometimes worry me, this one just sips battery juice. You can go multiple big rides before having to charge it again. Highly recommended.

Originally owned and used the Edge 530. Elected to go with the 830 touch screen. The touch screen is user friendly, with the same intuitive function screens that come with the 530.

The Garmin Edge 830 works flawlessly in many applications. The touch screen makes use super simple. I love how easily is switches between profiles like Road and Mountain because I do both frequently. Default profiles are great but they are also easy to customize. Battery life is enough for even the longest rides. The only thing I would improve is the touch screen response with gloves on during those chilly rides.
