A ton of power in a small package.

Switched from trying to use my iPhone to capture my rides after a recommendation from my local bike shop. I'd used Garmin products in the past and had issues with syncing, software updates quite a few years ago. Time has changed, and this has several huge improvements and increased functionality. Garmin has packed a number of features in this unit including an interface with Varia Radar and support for ANT+ and Bluetooth really makes a huge difference in overall useability. Battery life seems good, wireless connectivity and connections to a mobile phone, really expand the versatility of this unit. I'm very pleased with the improvements, screen size, color, alert tones, and, easy interface. The 830 is a good mid price range unit and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Very pleased although it did not come with a rubber protector for the Garmin body. Seems a bit prone to getting broken. Would be nice to see them make one for this unit as they have for the others.

Owned it less than a month. All ready frustrated. It drops out sensors just like my 520 plus did. Keep losing my power meter/cadence info. It’s brand new also on 2022 S Works Tarmac.

This was an upgrade from a Garmin Edge 520 Plus. It is a huge improvement, ease of use (Widgets) battery life (3-4 times) and data are all excellent.

USUAL GARMIN QUALITY

The 830 is ostensibly the 1030 in a smaller size. I wanted a smaller unit for my mountain/commuter bike and really didnt need the bells and whistles that I had on my 1030, but the touch screen was the selling point. I had originally purchased the 130 but returned as it was too small and black and white screen was hard to see while riding(it had all the bells an whistles minus color touch screen). I then looked at the 530 (it is an 830 minus touch screen) but no touch screen. The 803 color screen is smaller than 1030, other wise the same. Although many of these companies forgo quality to make more money, Garmin continues to offer excellent quality for the price. I have been "hooked" for most of their products(Fenix watch, S2 smart scale, Rally Power pedals, and Varia radar-an essential component to road cycling, if you dont have radar get it immediately). I am "anti technology" and attempt to live without the "phone" but I cant resist Garmin products for training. The safety added to road cycling is impressive, especially in a world where the car vs bike the cyclist will always lose. You need to put the advantage back in your court whilst on the road. The only downside to their products is the blue tooth connectivity can be "wonky" with the iphone. It will suddenly not recognize your phone and you have to re link by starting over. It then sees the old connection and the new one and doesnt know what to do.

Had the Edge 130 but when I discovered the the 830 hag a Gear Indicator on board for my Wireless XX1 SRAM shifting. I could also add my Heart rate to it as well. Larger than the 130, it's easier to read and has way more capability too.
