Easy to Program!!

I have had this 830 for a month now and absolutely love it. Everything works flawlessely and all the sensors hook up in a matter of seconds. I have added the varia radar light and headlight and this makes an outstanding package for any bike rider. The touch screen works great even with gloves. Programming the computer is a snap....don't hesitate to spend the extra money and you will not regret it.

The Gold Standard for Bike Computers

I have owned the Edge 520 and 820. The primary difference between the two is button vs touch screen control. I recently purchased the Edge 830 and am pleased with the performance. The touch screen actually works with gloves! The functions are intuitive, especially if you have some experience with one of Garmin's previous generation products. For greater instructional detail, Garmin has a pdf users manual that you can download, very helpful.

Lots of features. Takes a while to learn

bought this a few weeks ago. First GPS device (other than smart phone). Takes a while to set it up the way you want it, get it integrated with Strava, RidewithGPS and other apps. The device works well. My one major complaint is that, at my age, it's hard to read the screen. I'm considering selling this and buying the 1030+, but not sure it will be much better. I ride MTB, and the twists and turns in trails can be very short - there are too many arrows and extraneous stuff on the screen to be able to see it properly. I often go off-course (I usually set up courses in advance when I don't know the area), and end up having to go back (usually uphill) to get back on course.

I gave my 10 year old Edge 703 to my daughter, it was extremely simple to use. I got the 830 because my daughter gave me a rear radar unit. Huge mistake for me.I have had the 830 for a few weeks and still can’t figure it out. The cadence and speed thing don’t work . The radar forget it , the heart monitor works I still can’t figure how to enjoy a simple ride. I would like to change what is monitored on the screen so I simply have… DISTANCE, HEART RATE, SPEED , AND MAXIMUM SPEED, LAPSE TIME SINCE START HELP

I bought this to replace a failed Edge 530, and I’m not liking the new unit. It seems they changed everything about the interface, and none of it makes sense to me. Why does it take all of those button pushes to start recording a ride? Why doesn’t it keep track of different bikes? When I swipe to a new screen, why does the display immediately dim so much that I can’t even tell what is on that screen? The whole interface sucks. I liked the 530 much better, and I’m dumbfounded that the newer unit is so different, and so much worse.
