830 - Very very happy

The 830 was a replacement for a lost 530 and I an so so glad I moved up to the 830. The 530 was very functional and did everything I needed but, I found the "button" interface to be very cumbersome and sometimes problematic - pressing two buttons on opposite sides of the GPS. The 830 in comparison is a dream. It doesn't matter whether I have sweaty hands or full gloves; the touch screen works flawlessly. And setup is so much easier with the touchscreen. I would have looked more closely at the 1030 but I really like the footprint of the 830. You will not go wrong if you decide to purchase the 830 - it's fantastic.

Great dashboard

I replaced an 820 and getting this one to function took some time —it was intuitive. When I read the manual all became clear! I love the dashboard. Evething you want to know is present led in easy to read form. Love it.

I am now on my fourth EDGE 830 in two years.
First replacement was with a refurbished and second was a new one
The recurring problems are loss of the % grade and loss on connection with my phone
It is frustrating that the same two problems continue to occur
I applaud GARMIN in that they have worked with me but I am not confident that it will not happen again. Is it a software issue?
When it is working I like the 830, but will this one last ?

Light, objective, practial.

I'm using my device for almost a year now, almost every day. On road bike, mountainbike or indoor ride. It works super well, the specific supports are great and practical to secure the device for the ride. The device has a very good size and weight. The touch screen works very well. The feature in locking the screen for example when it rains helps a lot. Its super fun to create routes and combine with strava. Mostly real time segments shows up and make such a great competitive experience ride and training too. My whole biking experience changed so much to the better since I started using this device. I had a few shotouts sometimes, but the device rebootet fast. Updates and sync are mostly eary with the garmin connect app, phone and wlan. The connection mostly works fast, sometimes a route takes longer to sync. I love the feature to share routes with other devices, I sometimes used it with my friends: I had a route with segments and when we met, I shared (without any other connection needed!, just before we kept going with the ride) and so they could have and follow the route too. Also the flexibility to organize the data fields are great and in a good size. I mostly find every setting I need. Connections with other devices like heart rate monitor or powermeters works very well. The device is secure against rain and dust. Accuracy seems very good. Its great to have gps and glonass. Also the maps shows very clearly and easly to handle. I super recommend this product. I had some issues but they were fastly and friendly well attended by the customer service (Munich, Germany). So I'm overall happy! Use it for fun, for training, for touring, for races - and have a great ride!

A overall good gps unit. Only real complaint is it still isn’t the most intuitive to setup, but otherwise does everything that I need it to.
