Nice surprise it paired itself up with red light and warns me when battery low on it.
I wish the manual would tell me if waterproof did not dare take it with me on a rainy day.
Friend of mine claims that it is waterproof but did not want to risk it

Love this 830

I love my new Garmin Edge 830. I love touch screen and it was pretty easy to set up. There's a few options and settings in there then I'll never use. But other than that I've been using it for the past 4 days turned up and no problems.

First cycling computer. Put in almost 2 hours tweaking it, but still not utilizing this properly. Cadence sensor went out on my first ride that came in the bundle. I was on a 63 mile ride and it didn't even make it past 40 miles in. Not sure what happened. Reason why I'm giving this a 3 stars is because it should be a lot simpler to use. I read that the Wahoo was simpler, but I trust Garmin, because I've used Garmin products for years and absolutely rely on their gps devices.

Awesome computer

I just recently bought the Garmin 830. I was constantly using my phone running Strava and wanted something more dedicated to my ride. I had debated going with the Garmin 1030 but it was a little out of my budget.
I have bontrager lights and duotrap s cadence sensor on my bike and the Garmin 830 hooked up with them easily and intuitively.
I ride solo mostly so at the beginning of each ride, live track automatically sends a beacon to my wife and she can track my ride. That gives me and her a little more comfort in the event something happened to me during the ride.
The Garmin app is also great and easy to use. It has a lot of awesome information but I like that it also automatically uploads my ride upon completion to Strava so I can track my rides there as well.
Overall I'm super pleased with my Garmin.

So far: Touchscreen a BIG Plus!

I've only ridden with my 830 a few times, but so far it has exceeded my expectation for the information I want to enhance my training and road biking experience. Haven't yet really used the mapping function (soon), but the data fields (heart rate, temperature, average speed, and cadence info, etc.) have been very useful during my ride and post-ride when analyzing my performance. Before I bought my 830, I exhaustively researched among available bike computers and narrowed it down to Garmin (functionality and ecosystem were big drivers in my decision), either the 530 or 830; the 530 seemed to be recommended frequently among the reviewers I read primarily due to concerns about the touchscreen on the 830, but the touchscreen functionality appealed to me, so I went for it. I am SO glad that I did!!! Once you learn how to navigate the available data fields and screen set up functions (I HIGHLY recommend you leverage YouTube videos to learn how to set up your new computer and use its functionality!!) the touchscreen gives you the ability to very quickly, and easily, modify data fields on the display to suit your preference and change screens on the fly! Granted I've only had it for a very short time, but my impression has been very positive so far.

Perfect

I purchased the Edge 830 for my Bicycle because I was tired of running my phone down, gaps in mapping and stats use a mapping app. At first I thought is was a bit expensive, however after using the Edge 830 I quickly realized the tracking accuracy, ease of use, complete maps, awesome display, and touch screen, and on and on. The Edge 830 motivates me to ride more, I love it!
