Screen space, color, and GPS routing!

I upgraded from a 520 that had served me very well for a few years. The 830 takes everything I liked about the 520 and adds color, GPS navigation, enhanced training analysis, and more screen real estate. I also like the touch screen controls for summer rides. The jury is out on use with full finger gloves, but the 520's buttons were also a challenge with winter gloves.
It's hard for me to come up with a lot of ways to improve the 830. Great job, Garmin.

Love my 830

After 9 years my 800 died so I traded up to an 830 which I received just a week ago. Since then I have put alimony 200 road miles on it and boy am I impressed. Not only is the screen easier to read, the battery life is robust. The breadth of features is even more amazing. My only complaint is that the “elapsed time” does not stop running when you stop the ride, only after you save it, which is different from the 800 and it is not yet compatible with the IPhone 11, but they are working on that issue. Garmin sales dept and tech support have been outstanding. Love the 830, sorry I didn't upgrade sooner.

Works Great — Needs louder/adjustable alarm levels

The 830 has done everything I hoped it would, and with minimal fuss. All functions (speed, cadence, heart rate, link to phone/texts) have all worked exactly as hoped, without trouble. Only complaint, the alarm for the radar feature (alerting to traffic from behind) is too quiet and not adjustable.

Works like a charm

I bought this 2 weeks ago to replace my Garmin Edge 1000 which needed repairs and was quite old. While the screen is a little smaller, that doesn't appear to be a problem and the screen is bright and clear and easy to see. It is definitely easier to set up data screens than my Edge 1000 and so far I am extremely pleased.

Just About Perfect

I have bought and used a Garmin edge 500, 820 and 830. The 830 is the best so far. The new Garmin Edge 830 has improved responsiveness of the touch screen and easy to see and use graphics. The battery life is also improved.
The down side is the Bluetooth connection consonantly drops and it often will not upload without repairing the phone. I am not sure where the issue lies. It could be the Galaxy S10 phone or the Garmin unit?
Also, I would like a way to get the map up when trying to achieve segments to I know where the turns are. The map is safer and more useful than the cutaway profile of the segment. That may be a setting that can be adjusted?
Overall, the Garmin Edge 830 is s great improvement over past models and the leader in the current market place for a good reasons.

So Far - Great on the things most important to me!

Initial impressions after a month. Still working at using/learning the many features. The basics are excellent! Menus are sometimes difficult to figure out for things I haven't used before. Touch screen works great with full fingered gloves! It does seem to occasionally lose sync with cadence and heart rate monitors. It's easy to resync on the fly when it does. I didn't have that issue with my previous Edge 500. Not sure if it's the issue is with the new cadence sensor and new heart rate monitor or the 830 so I'm not dinging it for that. Love the screen! I do long endurance rides, so I did buy the external battery after the first few weeks. It works great. I also splurged for the Varia RTL510 radar. I ride mostly on back roads solo and I love the radar. It has dramatically improved my situational awareness. The display from it on the 830 is flawless! If it see negatives, I'll try to update this review.
