Still dropping sensors during rides as older model

I though that garmin has figure out to not have drops of sensors when riding close to power poles or communications towers, very disappointing that they have not fix this on this new models, my wahoo bolt does not have that issue riding through the same areas

Bought this device to replace older model, love the new connectivity features and the navigation is great too as you would expect from a Garmin instrument.

Owner's manual

I like my Garmin but am so frustrated at not being able to disable the "5 mile laps" feature. I am also unable to find where the setting is to pause timer when bike is not moving, ie traffic light. Some of the features pop up out of no where and it is hard to concentrate on riding when you have to fiddle with controls that automatically pop up. A proper owner's manual would resolve this. The manual that comes with the unit is thick, but only has 5 pages of information in English. It is really frustrating!

Great features but still horrible updates

A lot faster than my previous 520, but as usual Garmin can’t seem to fix the typical bugs that comes with their updates. Still having issues syncing to Garmin connect via Apple, losing speed info where the 530 thinks I’m stopped even while I’m doing 20+mph. And yes, I do have the Garmin speed sensor as a backup just in case I lose satellite signal. Not gonna lie, kinda wish I went with the Wahoo.

Worth learning to use

I use my 830 cycling GPS on two distinct bikes (a cross bike and a mountain bike). So, it took a long time to set up, but it was worth the effort. Data recording is consistent. The battery lasts a long time. And I'm able to get stats that are valuable to me. Incident detection kicked in once, which was great, especially since I forgot the unit had that feature. And I was surprised to learn it flashes messages to report jumps and hang time. Seems like it has a sense of humor. Overall, I'd buy another one if this one ever got damaged..

An Excellent Redo

The 830 is an excellent product. Two big differences over my 820 that make it a standout; the new processor and the battery. The 830 is FASTER by a mile at everything. This is especially notable when initiating a large, complicated route. Think seconds, not minutes. I have an extended battery pack and mount. I still use the mount, but have not had to use the extended battery. I did a 10 hour ride and was all done by the 830 battery, my extended battery still showed 100%. Good job Garmin!

Where am I, not!

Purchased this several months ago after frustrating experience with another brand. No more drop-sink with watch, phone, or satellites. I now know exactly where I am and all the data I would ever require during a ride. Once you download the manual the system is easy to set up with your information requirements. Touch screen is absolutely perfect, wouldn’t trade this for anything (well maybe an Edge 1030).
