Great upgrade

Using last 4 months and very happy with the 830. Upgraded from the 820. Battery life is a big improvement. Got through Ironman Wisconsin bike with plenty of remaining battery life and no changes to settings. The 820 last year was 5% at the end with multiple tweaks to decrease drain. Screen on 830 is more vibrant. GPS is similar. 830 compatibility with the garmin external battery pack and mount is really good for longest rides. Overall, worth the upgrade.

Love the new Edge 830. Much more responsive than the 800. Love the connection to the "radar gun".

Data and safety combined

I’ve been riding with the Garmin 830 for a few weeks now and couldn’t be happier. The data provided post ride is unbelievable. But what I truly love is the information provided during the ride. Power output, heart rate, dangerous curves, elevation, VO2max, and more is incredible. When paired with a smartphone I can see important texts from family along with extended features for the 830. What I truly love is the pairing with the Garmin Varia RTL510 light/radar. With this pairing I know when traffic is coming from behind me long before I hear it. From big trucks to motorcycles it picks up everything and even shows me how many vehicles are behind me at one time. Then it give me an all clear signal. I love everything about the Garmin 830.

A bit disappointed

Bought the product to take advantage of the turn by turn MTB route features. Unfortunately, I had difficulty getting the routes to load, and when loaded, the unit was easily confused about location on the route and frequently posted "U-turn" and "off course" messages. I had to rely on the Trailforks app to make sure of where I was on the route!

Functionality is good. Lock up is bad

I really like the functionality of the device but I have experienced several lockup’s on the device. This seems to be a problem with several other people to. Garmin needs to address their software quality.

Love my edge 830, easy to use. Gives me all the data I want. Just wish I didn’t need a power meter to get some data. I mostly mountain bike and love all the data I get and how easy it is to use.

Best cycling accessory

Love this device and all the feature that it offers. Wouldn’t leave for a ride without it. Especially like that I was able to connect an old heart rate strap to it that went with a Garmin watch that I bought close to 10 years ago.
